For those of you commenting about how the gap isn't bad with an SRT hood on a non-SRT bumper... what are you comparing to?
I compare the gap to a stock vehicle be it SRT or not, or hell... any other car out there, so when I see a hood that doesn't seem to follow the line of the headlights NOR does it get close to the bumper, I see a big gap that looks like shit.
So I'm wondering, is it just that you are willing to live with a gap like that in order to get an SRT hood, or do you compare the gap to something different, say... the gap between Michael Strahan's teeth?

Re: Just curious
I wasn't willing to live with it on my 2005 SXT, so I changed to an "open topped" bumper from CertiFit for the 2000 model NeonTheRandom1 wrote:For those of you commenting about how the gap isn't bad with an SRT hood on a non-SRT bumper... what are you comparing to?

It all comes down to how hung up you are over a car's appearance. Different strokes for different folks. /thread.

Well, if you're changing stuff on your body, you are most likely at least a little hung up on appearance, OD... but really you didn't answer the question at all.
Colonel, that'd be about what I was thinking too really. It looks like crap (in my opinion) so I'd have to swap bumpers to something that would close it up a bit.

Even with the 00 bumper you can still see an outrageous bunch of radiator support above the turn signals. Its ugly! Someone loan me an srt hood and ill show you.

This. Some people can just live with the gap i guess and dont consider it to be that bad. I dont think they are comparing it to anything, its just personal preferenceoccasional demons wrote:It all comes down to how hung up you are over a car's appearance. Exactly my point. It's like a one night stand. Some ppl don't care that the other person isn't perfect, but others will be so consumed about a mole or a particular feature, they will pass up getting some action for that sole reason. Like I said, it all comes down to what you can tolerate, if it is even an issue at all.n20sxt wrote:

imo, it depends on the car, color, and just your tastes. the srt hood and the 03+ bumper = sex! and being that the combo looks so great, im willing to live with that slight gap. i must say it grows on you. the first day i got my car together i said to myself, wow thats a big gap! not only have i made the gap a hair smaller now, but its less noticeable and worth the sacrifice!

See, the gap kills it for me entirely. If the gap wasn't there and it had a normal body gap, I'd say it absolutely looks good, but damn that's a ton of gap.
As far as it growing on you... I've been here since 2006, and in 4 years of seeing people do this, I think it still looks like crap, so I don't buy that at all. No offense.
OD as far as the one nighters go... I'm opposed to the idea of them anyways, so I really cannot comment on that from personal experience. However, of my friends who ARE into them, I've never known any of them turn one down by someone they were attracted to.

I've seen exactly one in person and it was awful. I couldn't believe it was so large compared to the 1/4 to 1/2 inch or so of gap that a stock hood has. The gap is at least twice as big as it is with a stock hood, probably even more than that.

I think everyone is right when saying its a tolerance thing, its not that bad compared to nothing really. Hell look at the strange hood gap on lsp's car its bad but if you look at everything else it really isn't super noticeable.
All boils down to what you think about it really, hell in my family if body lines or gaps dont match up we fix it but that's unfxable.
