craigslist wrote:I went to Best-Buy in Indianapolis yesterday to purchase a $800+ laptop... Only to discover Best-Buy has determined that customers that have purchased and or have ability to purchase a "fuel efficient" vehicle have attained some sort of preferred customer status and now have achieved a preferred parking arrangements at the store...Give me a break- This is the ultimate in our national spiral into "green hypocrisy."
Question Best-Buy... How do you ship freight... Big bad diesel trucks or a magic carpet? Yes- I get it that as a corporation you have made strides to operate your stores in a more "environmentally friendly" manner- that is between you, your bottom line and shareholders. Please leave the customers out of it... All I wanted to do is pull up in my diesel pickup...buy a laptop and be on my way... I do not need a lecture from Best-Buy as the ill effect my trip to Best-Buy in my truck has caused the environment...
What's next? preferred discounts on purchases based on your vehicles MPG? Maybe a 1/2 price laptop if you WALK to BestBuy for the purchase?

Is this for real?

I think it would be safe to say craigslist is not a credible source to get information from.

no their are places even in PA that have spots for fuel efficient vehicles.
so i put my 00 in those spots all the time
it is stupid but they cant tell you you cant park their because they are not qualified to determine the green of any vehicle.
so have fun and park when and where you can.

Due to a court case I once had when I had my hearse, legally you can park in any spot except designated handicapped spots. You can also use as many spots as you want to, including the ones for expecting mothers

We don't have anything like that down here nor have I ever heard of a store doing that.
Quite honestly I think people try to make a big deal out of things that really don't matter. If you don't care about or agree with a green initiative then don't follow it. Saying a company is trying to lecture you based upon them having a parking spot "reserved" is just silly. I don't see how a "reserved" parking spot stops anyone from being able to go into the store and buy a product. I guarantee if you park in that spot you'll won't have anyone running out to the parking lot telling you to move. Park your huge diesel there. Someone will probably post a pic on the internet in the random picture thread and we'll all get a good laugh.
Best Buy does a lot of things to reduce costs in the name of being "green." Reducing the number of truck deliveries and more efficient routes, no idling rules, constructing LEED stores, Recycling Programs, etc etc. Do I agree with all of them? No. I drive a car that gets 15mpg in the city, requires 93 octane and I don't recycling anything. But if these initiatives mean my stock price continues to climb, I continue to receive a great pay rate, and I don't have to worry about job security, than I'm not going to argue.
This is MY opinion and not the company I work for.

I always park in the green spots, especially at Ikea!
If any one asks, I say hey, my Jeep IS green! and it is.

Even i can get worse MPG on a 'green' vehicle than in my neon

it's 25% car, 75% driver when it comes down to green-ness..

Exactly we have them all over in Harrisburg and I park the jeep (yes I bought a jeep) in them all the time usually in as many as I can at once. Someone at Royal Farms said something to me the other day best response "But it is its Moss Green Peral"

You have green parking spaces down your way of Ontario CANADA? we don't up here...we just have handi and expecting mother spots.
I know we can park in any parking lot at the malls handicap or expecting mothers cause they are not run by the city so they're not "official spots" so you cant be fined. Now ain't that silly? lol
can anyone post a pic of what a "green space" sign looks like?
