Auto Auction Sites

Post by DetergentCandy » Wed Mar 23, 2011 5:16 am

Anyone have any experience dealing with them?
You know the ones i'm talking about. They want you to pay $150 for a membership, so you can buy cars they have up for auction.

If you don't win an auction, of if you don't even find a car to bid on, then you're out $150.

I found an auction site where I've seen one or two salvaged SRts pop up now and again.
But if anyone has some negative feed back on sites like this...i'd appreciate hearing it.

Sure you don't have to have a dealers license for the one your looking at?

Not if you're just buying one car here and there. At least it didn't say so. $150 membership. $400 deposit that's returned if you don't win a bid. The $150 gets you access to the site for a year.

Ohio has a very similar auction. State law mandates that all reposessions be put up for auction to the public. $50 gets you a year long membership at "The Ohio Auto Auction" (Grove City). They have their Repo auctions on wednesdays.

As far as dealing with these auctions, I have actually purchased 5 cars through the auction and every time was very plain and simple. Just don't get caught up in the bidding wars, you have to set your max and stick to it. Once we won the car, you just go up to the desk, hand them either all the money or the $400, then you're golden. You have a week to pick it up at that point and get it out of the lot, otherwise you're out $400 dollars.
