This is a little different than the other mp3 thread.

I became aware of a site that my school will pay for music downloads. I went there and I downloaded about 6 or 7 albums. All music gets put into your my music folder and windows media player. I went to burn a cd with the music on it and it said that the music is license protected. Anyway for me to get around this license protection?

good old NERO Burning rom should do it....

i tried burning a cd through nero as a data cd and it said i couldnt do it. i also tried importing it into itunes and it said i couldnt do it

If I'm not mistaken, it's gonna be pretty damn hard to get around that wall. I know accessing certain videos, music files, programs etc., you need to be connected to the internet (in this case, at your school), and you must be privy to the password (which your school is). Once you try to take those files elsewhere, the server knows and says no. I've tried numerous software that will recode/encode/decrypt etc., but still nothing.

well that sucks. i knew it was too good to be true. they just can make it easy.

If it's anything like the download services I know of, you have to use the program that downloaded the files to acutally burn the discs, they are not accessable from any other PC. If it's Rhapsody, and you didn't pay to download them, you will have to pay to burn the disc.

There are only two services I would use for downloading, iTunes if you want it legitimately (mainly because you can put the songs on up to 5 PCs), and AllofMP3 (while it exists) if you want it semi-legitimately.

There are rumors that the RIAA is going to shut down russian mp3 sites, well after doing some reading, the uploaders and the sites have to worry, not the downloaders.

i came up with an idea that was derived from how my dad recorded his records onto the computer. ill have to see how it works. it will take some time but its worth a shot.

i got a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cord that i will plug one end into the speaker port and the other to the line in port on the computer and then record it into music match and then i should be all set, ill have to give it a try and see if it works.

That's one surefire way to do it, but the unfortunate thing about it is that recording takes as long as the music takes to play, and there may or may not be loss of quality.

yeah it will take the length of the cd and the sound may be of less quality but if its not too bad then its good with me. it was only $5 for the cable so if it doesnt work im only out $5, not too bad of a risk. but if it works then i say hundreds.

I should have said this before - loss of quality is related to the quality of your hardware. It should be no big deal, though, and there probably won't be any loss if the original wasn't CD quality.

Dude, the beauty of that method is that it always will work, so long as the hardware is there - no matter what copy protection scheme they have, as long as it plays, it can be fed as input and recorded on your current hardware

i tested it and it works woooooohoooooo. it will just take some time but its kind of hard to save money without taking more time.
