Thought I'd share for a laugh...

Got pulled over the other day because of my exhaust and the officer told me that it was aftermarket, which it isn't. After politely telling him that this is stock, he got nasty with me and told me that he "knows for a fact Dodge cars do not come from the factory like that" and gave me a repair order. He also told me to wave the ticket in his face if I ever got it signed off.
Well, I did prove that it was stock, thanks to LilNicko and a few others who gave me the manufacturers exhaust diagrams on Facebook (but I still had to take the car to get it inspected).
#FAILonhisface.
Do I send him a copy of the signed off repair order with a smiley face sticker on the front (hey, he told me to - but of course I won't be rude about it, even though he was rude to me).
LOL. I probably won't. Just thought I'd share. Several of the thoughts going through my mind when he was talking to me:
"That's not my exhaust, that's my engine, because my car is just that BEASTLY" <--not completely true, but still hilarious lol.
"You should really learn more about cars if you're going to be handing out repair orders"
"You should really learn more about what is illegal and what is not illegal" <--because he starts pointing out my aftermarket tails (which aren't illegal) and completely overlooks the fact that I have 5% tint (not illegal).

Well I wouldn't go as far as that - this one may have been stupid in regards to the repair order/car mods, but not all of them are like that. I also don't call them pigs.

I got pulled over by a Michigan State Trooper for my srt4 exhaust. He asked if the "two shiny chrome tips" we're aftermarket. I politely told him no, they came off a factory dodge srt4 which is turbocharged. He then proceeds to ask me "what's a turbo?" and he was like 25-30 years old

Since he knew I clearly knew what I was talking about, he just let me go. Didn't even notice the tinted tails which is something I thought he would try to get me for.

I won't mention the locality so no one will get into trouble but I met a policeman at a gas station a few years back who had an SRT-4 and was planning to go Stage 3. When I questioned him about it not being street legal due to it being non-catalytic, he just smiled and said, "What are they going to do? I'm a police officer!"

Yeah, cops can be funny. I say send the smiley and line # 2 because #3 might get him pissed off and on the lookout for you.
I have a pretty loud aftermarket setup on my exhaust. in CT it just has to be within a certain noise limit. I know my is within limits because they measure it at autox events and mine didn't even register. I have never been stopped for having a illegal mod nor have I been followed around for having a "modded" car. But, as soon as I got my EVO IX cops follow me everywhere. The evo doesn't have any performance mods on it.

A few years ago I had been pulled over for having an SRT 4 axle back, went to court and had to pay anyway. I told them the exhaust was off a dodge neon srt 4. they asked if my car was a dodge neon srt 4. I said no, it's a dodge neon sxt but the exhaust was OEM/stock for a neon.
their reasoning:
"The exhaust isn't the proper one for your 'make and/or model' and therefore is aftermarket and is illegal to have."
$65 ticket later and a swap to an R/T muffled exhaust I'm legal now as far as DBs but I do miss the sound of my straights...

Like the idea. Just might do it
I'm never one to go looking for trouble, I don't drive aggressive or speed on purpose. I'm always very polite to officers because I know the shit my mister (Passt) has to go through when he pulls people over. Needless to say, I absolutely hate when people make jackass comments about police officers - they're just doing their job to keep us safe. Sure there are some ass-holey ones out there, but the majority are just tired of dealing with idiotic people. I will also never complain about getting pulled over because 99% of the time, they are right - this is the rare 1% of the time when they are wrong. Fun to laugh about it now that I'm not worried about having to repair a stock exhaust, lol.
@midnight_rider LOL! Must be nice to be an officer

If the guy who pulled me over ever heard Nathan's car pulling out of our driveway he would probably wet himself....(and not in the good way).
Anywhoo, will keep that signed off repair order AND the printouts of the exhaust system in my glovebox from now on, lesson learned, lol.
