I love how youtube can go from that, to elephants mating on the side bar.

They must know this is huge!

I can still count on it breaking! At least you won't be pushing 40 psi lol.

Don't worry... It will make like 450 on just the 15psi on the spring. Maybe I'll keep the RPM down to 8500 just for safety.

Is this why you're working on your race car this weekend, Erick? haha Totally wish I could have been there, but shit happens. haha

I've got a dyno appointment since I don't have tags to tune on the street.

Well looks like Erick won. He busted out a few high 12's last weekend at the Neon event. Mine wasn't running right due to injector problems (my fault). Fixed the injector issue yesterday but while testing to see if it'd go past 6k (which it didn't do at the track but certainly did with different injectors), this happened (again):

Image

Cock sucking PT clutch came apart just like the 2.7L stratus one did earlier this year and royally raped my bellhousing on the trans I just built 2 weeks ago. The 2.7L clutch lasted like 800 miles, this one made it maybe 4 miles. :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

So I pushed the car back into the woods again and it'll sit there for a while. If I work on it anytime in the near future, I'm afraid I'll just light it on fire. Plus I need a new clutch (no more pt/stratus modular clutches for this guy), gotta sandblast another bellhousing and set up the diff again, and install that, need a new set of 30# injectors and not leave them outside all summer, and also a new radiator, which leaks courtesy of the clutch straps smoking the bellhousing at 8200 rpm and throwing shards of aluminum into the new (stock) radiator.

Call me chip. I found out about that other one.

Wait I thought the race was September 23rd

It was, but we were both there and I got the balls to race it. I ran the first run, and asked him if he wanted a faster one or to call it quits, but he was OK with the 12.7.

It is, but my car is out of commission until next spring. Plus he already ran 12's and my best time in the past 5 months was a 15.7 @ 81 mph with a 1.95 60' lol.

I did run a 13.4 @ 102 with a 2.0 60' back in April but my 1st clutch grenaded 2 passes later:

Plus since he already ran .2 faster than what I was aiming for this year and has some more tuning to do, I wouldn't beat him anyways unless something bad happens lol. Part of it was motivation for him to finally get the damn thing done. We both knew he was gonna get a cheap trans from me regardless, and that he'd be tuning my car for next to nothing anyways.

Dang dude that slice in the housing is gnarly.

Are you na or turbo?

by chipdogg
N/A. Neither clutch liked spinning to 8200 and being beat on apparently.

Lol nope. How much HP and torque r you putting down

Not sure, never dyno'd it. Just some street tuning, mostly on my own but Erick made it alot better last October the night before I hit a 13.379 @ 101.07 mph. Probably over 200 whp since I'm still rocking full interior. We'll find out next spring after I get a new clutch and stuff put in it. I'm sure I'll go down to Erick's some weekend and help him put in his new trans and we can hit the dyno with my car.

Aren't 2.4's rev limited to under 6500 or something like that?

Don't have a clue on the 2.7 tho. But I'm sure 8200 wasn't in their design plans for the clutches.

One would think a (stock) 2.0 clutch would hold the RPM better, but not the power.

At least the flywheel held up. Tho it is only a comparable difference of getting shot with a .223 versus a deer slug. Either way, it is gonna hurt.

Never mind it is a punctured appendage versus missing appendage.

Yeah, but people have been using the PT clutches for years to higher rpms, including JeffB#2 to 8500. The 2.7L clutch was recently found so I gave it a shot. It was awesome till it blew up. I probably hit 8200 at least 250 times while I had it.
