Friend from HS went into that... have fun

lol
That scares me.
Ever since I first got my Playstation (the original) I have wanted to make games, I was about 10~12 years old at the time.
I think that nowa days its still mostly source code programing, but I thought HTML was a fun class sooo.....
After he got out of HS he went into it... I haven't really talked to him since but I did stop in a see one of my teachers like 4-6 months ago and she mentioned him. I think he's having fun, just started working for a game company but it doesn't look like a walk in the park type job. It's programming, I took a few programming classes in HS and after doing it I couldn't stand it for the life of me. I mean it's alright, pay will be good but it's a lot to remember and talking to a few people that made medical software it just wasn't for me. Too many late nights since they were saying they'll have a death march week where when they need to wrap up a software package for a company so they'll be working 20hr days to get everything together. It might be different in the gaming industry but programming is programming. It was just me but for that 2 years that I did it in HS which was only easy VB I knew it wasn't for me. I'm more of a network systems person and have been tinkering in networking for years now on the home network I setup, that stuff really interests me and is what I'm looking forward to learning... programming stretches my paitence. Basic HTML is easy... take a simple VB class first if you never have and make sure you like it... that'll give you an idea what it'll be like. It can be really interesting and even come in handy sometimes. I broke out a few of my old books when i was at my old job and made a few programs to make my day easier... but it still just wasn't what I wanted to do everday.
Whats VB?
I've tried Linux before and that was fun but running half partions on my computer sucks for the movies I try to make. I've also used some GUI game programs with realitive success, the thing with the HTML is I enjoy sitting at the computer, looking at the codes and numbers and shit, then hitting a button and making them into a really facinating page. Then changing a few lines of code to see the effect.

Justin- I have nothing but smart ass remarks to add.

Visual Basic
Linux is an OS which isn't programming as there are a few languages that are for the Linux(Unix) OS thats still nothing more than an OS like Windows or the Mac OS which even that is a UNIX based system.
You might like if it you like looking at code and whatnot... some people like it, some people hate it. You just have to be detailed... you miss a simple '.' and the program doesn't work... then you've gotta debug the program and go through the code trying to figure what you missed. It can just get frustrating at times if you have a couple hundred or thousand lines of code to look at. Sure you dont' have to look through it all but only one little area where it's crapping out on but... you get the idea lol

No, it really is because (well for me at least) I didn't know WTF you were talking about, I've only dabbled in HTML, DOS, and some Linux programing. My dad is really good with computers, and we end up talkign about them all the time. In the HTML class I took we were always talkign about VB.

lol im the one in the class and i dont know WTF i was talking about either..
*edit- wait.. isnt visual basic just a graphic interface you use to compile source code and link/load programs in windows? i know in UNIX it is a command line.. but i thought VB was in fact how you do it on windows. See.. i am so lost when it comes to this.

VB is an object oriented programming language. Never really dabed in C b/c I hated VB so much but from what I remember isn't C where you have to code a button to make it appear? In VB you just draw the button as you would like in paint then type the code for the button without ever touching the code to make the buttom appear... if that makes sense. I'd help ya with the C but like I said... don't know much about C and would rather not haha
