01rtgurl's R/T Buildup/Background & Oil Analysis

Alright, I'm making a thread modeled after dawm's, so maybe someday a n00b will come across this thread and realize that after reading dawms, mine, and other people's, everyone does something different with their cars. Just letting people see the options out there. :D

I dynoed my car on the Mustang Dyno at work (known to be 27% lower than a DynoJet) and the results are in this thread:
http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=5659&highlight=
Needless to say, I decided I wanted a little more power.
Following are my current and future mods.
The car is a 2001 R/T (5spd 3.94 gearing) that currently has 87,000 miles on the odometer. They're all mine. (except for the 8 miles that were on it when I got it from the dealer) Regular oil changes every 3,000 miles with FRAM (yes, FRAM) oil filters. Still on stock internals, tranny, clutch, everything.
The only problems I've had with the car is the #4 spark plug tube filling with oil. Which I fixed by taking off the valve cover and replacing the tube seals at 86k. That and some broken motor mounts, but that's my fault
It's been ran at the 1/4 mile strip twice. Once on Nelson Ledge's road course (what a blast!). I'm telling everyone this because:
1.) I'm not ever selling it, I'll drive it till it dies. It's my first car, it shall die with me!!
2.) So you know what the car has been through. (LOTS. WOT 80% of the time)

SEE BELOW FOR OIL ANALYSIS

Performance Parts Installed:
AEM CAI (~$200? new)
AF/X UDP ($110 new http://www.howellautomotive.com)
AF/X Race ECU ($540 new http://www.howellautomotive.com)
DCSports SRT-4 3" Catback ($dealer pricing$ brand spankin shiny as hell new http://www.terrystiretown.com)

Suspension/Misc Parts Installed:
Rex MM inserts ($27 used)
Progress 22mm rear sway/shorter poly-bushed endlinks (sway used, endlinks new - autozone ~$19?)
DCSports Front STB ($70 new http://www.summitracing.com)

Parts Here But Not Yet Installed:

Crane Valve Springs ($110 new)
Centerline Storms ($99/ea - 14 lbs/ea http://www.summitracing.com - waiting to paint black chrome[$250] http://www.alsacorp.com)
VAFC ($216 used - thx dawm!!)

Waiting To Buy:
Crane 14 Cam (~$299 http://www.summitracing.com)
3" Merge Collector (~$80)
Flex Pipe (summit)
Cat (summit - & only for emissions)
Glasspack (summit)
60mm TB

Crap I Don't Need/Want To Sell:

Comp 400 cam ~$225 shipped?

So here's the scoop: Going to use the VAFC to control fuel (aka add a little at part throttle, subtract a little at top end), and also to activate the secondaries so I can actually rev above 5k and it be useful. The cam and springs should allow me to safely rev to the AF/X-R's 7,800 rpm redline.
I recently did an oil analysis, just to make sure things weren't going to go TOO wrong after I do all this work to my 87k motor!
Here's the results of that:
Image
An explanation of all the elements: http://www.blackstone-labs.com/report_explanation.html
(yes, the oil had 4,700 miles on it  I forgot about it. Not good.) I did use a Lucas brand oil additive a few months ago, so I think that's where the sodium is coming from, since I'm not losing coolant. 8)
I think it's allllll clear...... will be updated as the car progresses!

::UPDATE::
Installed the SRT-4 Fiberglass hood yesterday... actually fit almost perfect, had to modify the latch a tiny bit so the hood would lock in place. Yes, the hood is still white (gelcoat). I'm letting it "bake" in the sun on the car before painting/drilling for pins.

I'm installing my 4th right side outer tie rod today.... then I need to install poly sway bar bushings (chassis mount, not endlinks), hopefully that fixes the clunking noise

Waiting on all the suspension pieces from Nemo, said they shipped out today! I got GB#3 http://www.srtforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=232578

Hopefully will be installing the VAFC sometime soon.... gotta grab a coworker who is a wiring-guru 8)

Great info. Are you also on "BobIsTheOilGuy"? Is your AEM the oil-guaze type filter, or the dry flow?

What is that? I have no idea what you're talking about :? lol
koreysxt wrote: Is your AEM the oil-guaze type filter, or the dry flow?
Weeelllll.... it was the oil type. Then I switched to a K & N while the AEM was drying after cleaning, and that was the one that was on the car for a while. Either way, I do believe the AEM filter IS a K & N filter.

New Pics - In between stage...

Here are some new pics... of the hood and the fitment, etc. Now, before anyone says anything, I've gotta work on the hood a little bit, I got a blemished one cheap, so this is not a normal 'PRODUCTION' hood that you would normally get.
Oh, and my grill isn't in

Also, there's 2 extremely short videos of the exhaust @ idle. As good as it gets with the video feature on my canon camera. 8)

I'm planning on an SRT tail/bumper rear conversion, if not for anything else but to make the tips line up with the correct holes!!
Also, a stock R/T bumper, since mine met with an awful fate...
and sides, I think. 8)
Whatcha think?

I guess... I was taping while moving, lol, and it sounds way less 'honda-ish' in person, again, still camera + vid = not that great:

Yah, you need an srt-4 rear bumper for your bday. :)

I'm too used to how first gen hoods fit, that one looks nice. The white reminds me of my white fiberglass hood I had.

No underhood shots of it? 8)

Updates:
Got the VAFC temporarily hooked up and a dyno pull. I say temporarily b/c I didn't cut any wires, just used the connectors that go into both wires to make a connection. The dyno run yielded 121hp/115ft-lbs (up from 95/97). It's going lean up top, above 4.5k, but is almost perfect (14.7) at part throttle throughout the RPM range. I'm wondering if I used all my fuel "points" down low :?

Either way, I need to hook up the tach adapter I got (since the rpms have a 2,000 rpm sweep!), and re-wire everything correctly. 8)

I ghetto-painted the rear bumper, the black part... so at least it blends in somewhat now. The stock hood is back on. Planning on painting the SRT rear bumper/hood/R/T front bumper. :)

Just out of sheer wonder.
Why use 3" exhaust on your Build up? 3 inch is overkill on mild turbo projects and actually bad for most NA setups...

True....I'm gonna be running a 3" on my SRT swapped with an AGP stage 4 50 trim.
