Well, I applied for a sponsorship the other day and got one from decalkits.com. Now I have to choose one for 50 bucks or under and I get to only pay the shipping and they send it to me. It sounds pretty cool, but now I wanna get something for my car, but I dont know what. I need some help guys! I want somethign fairly plain to go kinda where the existing pinstripe already is, even if it means I have to take it off. I think I am going to maybe go with a red or a blue. What would look good? Nothing too extreme tho. I wouldnt normally do this, but its a freakin sponsorship!

Hmm, the only thing I got was the website. Well i got the sponsorship by applying on the cardomain site. You pay a fee, then they give you some partial sponsorships, and a couple full ones. The decalkits one was the only full one. They do have a few good decals on there tho...

any sponsorship that u have to pay ANY money for is most likely a scam. the definition of sponsorship doesnt involve u having to pay!

ya i understand that. I just figured its 5 bucks for shipping, if i lose it, its not a biggy. Ill try it this once, if i get what I want outa the deal, then thats alright will me, if not... well then its a lesson learned. I just figure I will get a popar sticker for the rear window and give them a couple pics with it in, cant go wrong with that. Im out 5 bucks if they are a scam, so really its not a biggy.

*Sigh* You have to use the website name as a search term.

meh, seemed like a good idea at the time. Its a lot of work even to get the 50 dollar sticker, which will probably look like shit when i get it. So ill forget the whole thing ever happened, and pay the damn credit card bill when it comes. That 90 dollars could have paid for my tail light covers which kinda blows! scneonchic501 did you ask for your money back? They just told me simply that my money had already been used als othat if i wanted to get full sponsorships i have to attend shows. Where the fuck will i find a show in alberta?? O well maybe after seeing this, other members will stay clear!

Whoa, you paid $90 for a sticker?

Yikes.

by 2002blackrt
no.. i paid 90 dollars for nothing, theres a difference! They make it seem like your gunna get sponsored and all this crap. Then when they give you your sponsorship package, there is really nothing there but some cheep car care wax and polish, and a sticker. They you get smartass remarks when you ask for your money back. Im not the only one apparently, shoulda looked into it a bit more rather than just rushing into it like I did. Its not like it is gunna brake me, but its still shitty.

Ah well, now you've learned I guess. It all goes back to the fact that you can't get something for nothing. Rather... you can't get a lot for a little, most of the time.

They refused to give me my money back too. I was running low on money then, and I had called and tried to cancel the order. They took it out anyways, right after I had bought a whole tank of gas and it made me bounce my first and only check EVER :( I was so mad

Well, that's not necessarily true for REAL sponsorships, though. If someone wanted to sponsor you, you wouldn't have to pay them. You'd just have to advertise their name.

but real sponsors either give you super great discounts (aka the shop that does my paint work :D i only pay say 25% if not less for my stuff) or they give you free stuff, free and clear

I don't mean to be rude, but just hear me out.

You'll are missing the point. I don't know where you guys went to but I'm looking into getsponcered.net or teamscp1.com in which you pay them $90 and you get partial-sponsorships with the fallowing(if you buy their stuff): AEM, APEXi, DC Sports, Tien, 5zigen, HKs, ATC. etc. etc. With the opprotunity to recieve full sponcerships with the same companies. Also, SuperStreet and Import Tuner and European Car have them on their front page as "sponcored links."
http://www.superstreetonline.com/
http://www.importtuner.com/
http://www.europeancarweb.com/

Along with those Magazines, SEMA has TEAM SCP as an acual company on their front page. http://www.semaias.com/main/main.aspx?id=24
http://www.sema.org/Main/SemaOrgHome.aspx?ID=53416

The $90 dollors is for the access to otherwise unaccessable networking. A profile that these companies look at for their potentials. To put into the profile is a mods list and pics. The main cetch is that you have to work for the full sponsorships. You have to show these companies that you are going to shows/races. That you are advertising not only you and your car but there products and their names.

You act as if when you get sponsorships, you get free stuff and thats the end of it. You're not even close.

How do you think these companies get their names out?

Not through standard advertising. They don't need to. They have cars that the sponsor.

However, these sponsored cars don't just go to Mc D's and to the mall to hang out. They race (sometimes they win races). They go to shows (and sometimes win). And sometimes they go to both races and shows.

Has anybody gone to any big time races?

ie: NASCAR, SCCA/Speed World Challenge, IRL, Formula 1, Rolex Sports Car, NHRA.....

or even: Formula D, D1 Grand Prix, NOPI.....

You dont just have the race cars racing, but you have them on display when they're not racing or in the garage being worked on.

That's hard work. You have to bust your ass to be sponsored. That's why these BIG COMPANIES don't just hand out sponsorships like candy. They have to make money not lose money. They need people who are willing to and have proven that they can bust there ass for them. Most people don't want to do that, they just want the free parts.

If your car is good enough, you still shouldn't have to pay THEM money for anything. They will come to YOU.

The whole idea is to get started and to get my foot in the door.

Do you think that no-name acters just starting out get big time A movie rolls at the begining?

No. They have to pay someone to get them through all the shitty rolls first. Then they get to the million doller rolls in summer blockbusters. Either way they have to bust there ass to keep the ball rolling.

Think about it.
