False advertising?

Post by quicksilvr » Sat Apr 01, 2006 4:20 am

This post probably isn't what you'd expect it to be. But you probably held your mouse over the subject line long enough to read this, so now you're kinda interested in what might be said. Maybe. Sometimes in the middle of the night, I feel the need to write something that lets me use big, two dollar words...the kind that regularly confuse and irritate most standard small town farmer boys or girls. Statements like, "The way you roped that cow seemed a bit perfunctory to me". The acknowledgement of the statement would make is seem that full comprehension was indeed imbibed, but undoubtedly internal agitation occured, as the failure to understand whether praise, criticism or sarcasm was given caused a general feeling of disdain towards words such as perfunctory. To the point though. I removed "R/T" from my signature's previous "ES/RT" nomenclature, as I honestly felt that I was involved in slight bit of fraudulent activity, leading people to believe my car is more R/T than it really is. Upon deeper consideration of all the things lacking, and severely I might add, from a true R/T, I have thus convinced myself to do the right thing. Honesty is the best policy. Don't you think?

I agree and I think it was a very sincere edit on your part, as far as the signature change. I could understand completely and more thoroughly (to have the R/T back in your signature) if you aquired a complete R/T engine and maybe continued to modify your gasoline powered means of transportation to accomodate more parts from a R/T Neon. But in short - I say: Way to be fucking honest!

Nice change.

Nomenclature is out of context ;)

It *should* only be reserved for science references. It's not wrong but when you're an English major, you gotta know when to use those words in its proper context.

Back on topic, I say it's a good move. I dunno why people try to pass off their cars as something else.

=D> \:D/

Way to come clean... actually, I had no idea you ever did that. I knew it was not an RT, but oh well! I think that is a good thing.

Anybody with an SXT can get an SRT bodykit/spoiler, wheels, engine, turbo, and whatnot, but it is still not an SRT4.

I knew only you would say that, and I figured you would mention it. While I know that the word should be used when dealing with science (and most often biology), you're right that it's not a wrong use, just a slight misuse.

I never noticed that it said rt before...I just saw quiksilvr...either way....I like it when people are honest about what they have also. Thats why I always say i have a Plymouth Neon LX and not a Dodge SE or ES the way everyone refers to the base model. I know its the same, that its just a name, but Im glad I have a Plymouth

But You have done a great job w/ your neon, I really like it and the write up you did on swapping out parts and such (cant remember what they were, but i remember reading it, excuse me, im exhausted as i type this :( ) was really good...it will bea good future reference.

Too many large words for 3:30am... something about removal of the R/T out of your sig or some other nonsense... I sorta gave up reading it halfway though

I was writing that at about 3:30am...I was pleasantly surpised to read it again during the day and find that it actually did make sense. All my friends tell me that "late night Dave" (as they like to say) is the best, cause I like to be absurd...and I guess funny too. The closest I get to being absurd here is making posts with long sentences and big words. Hopefully.

Copy that. Next time I'm feeling verbose, I'll makes sure it has to do with engines, and I won't use any big words.

Also, thread hijack.
