My fiance drives a 2000 Ford ZX2 right now, and so therefore it will soon be my car also. 8) Does anyone know much about them? We'll keep it for a while, 'cause she owns it outright, and I want to do a few things to it, but the only things I know of are the parts that Modern Performance sells for ZX2's. Has anyone ever worked on them, or know of anything important about the car that I should be aware of? Thanks...

I hear there a bit loud and noisy when grindin the pedal... and the crash tests didnt rank to high... Other than that it looks like a nice car... Kinda reminds me of my old Fort Tempo GL.... I was originally gonna get a ZX2... but then i saw a Neon on Auto Trader.... 2003, 14k Miles.... only $9k (Got it in August 2003 btw)

It is a ford... that's about all I know. There was this kid who had a really nice looking one who lived across the street from me - decked out with a kit, exhaust, tint... it was nice, but it wasn't my style. :)

My friend has one, they are so easy to work on. We had lowering springs on it in about 30 minutes. Installed an underdrive pulley, it was only one bolt. Not sure if thats a good or bad thing.

Whoa! That's a happenin' forum there!

Thanks for the replies. Question for kevin_gp.....have you driven/ridden in that car once it was lowered? I really really want to lower it, but I can't sacrifice much ride quality, or she'll be kind of upset with me. I can at least work on the engine though, as long as I keep the exhaust pretty quiet. 8)

Try to find an S/R suspension, the S/R's came with Tokitko(SP?) shocks and Eibach springs stock.

We have a zx3, and the ignition gets hot and burns up, or locks out the key at random times and has to be towed to the dealership before we can start it again. It's been replaced twice.

Now mind you, it's also incredably fun to drive. But then again, this is a zx3 and not a zx2, so im not actually helping all that much so much as I am rambling.

They are capabile of running mid 15's stock in a mtx.

They are light, 140hp cars. Thats about all i know about them.

they look good with a nice drop and some wheels...

Yeah, that's what I want to make it look like. It's white, I want to put white 17" wheels on it, drop it, and get the windows tinted properly...(see "tint ticket" post :x ) And it's a mtx, only 65K miles. I'd hate for it to be faster than my car if I start putting some intake/exhaust/UDP mods on it.... I just have to find a suspension setup that rides ok. Missouri roads aren't very good around us. Anywhere actually..... :(

They run about the same as an R/T since they're about 200lb lighter. They respond very well to suspension mods and will out handle a lot of vehicles. Stock for stock, my old Escort LX out handles the Neon no problem, the ZX2 has the added power to boot. The majority of the focus Zetec parts will fit the ZX2 no prob so the aftermarket is there.

lmao that you quoted yourself. I am going to look into that, but I tend to think that setup is either going to be real expensive or real hard to find, so I'm weighing all my options. I will look into it though. 8)

IN that case, its going to be real hard to find. But it will be worth it. Also 7th gen Celica spoilers look uber nice on ZX2's. My girlfriends car was an 03 with the good front end, and was Midnight Blue. looked really nice.
