The neon is gonna be rolled into storage for awhile.
I've got 1 year left of college before I finish and I still really dont know what I want to do with that degree. Joining up is something I've always thought about doing, I just didn't want to look back and regret not doing it later. Gonna try to get 4 years as a small vehicle mechanic, get some more experience, and get some money saved.

If I were you I would look into going into the Air Force as an Officer after you finish school. I would highly suggest not going into the Army. You will surely regret it

Yes, definitely look into the AF and other branches before you join Army. My dad is retired military and I know a few people in a bunch of the services and they all say that the Army isn't the best route to go. Much Respect - Crystal

I ment no direspect.
I have alot of friends in the Army. One of them has been in Iraq for 3 years now on a striker unit. The way the Army treats it's people is just not for me thats all.
I have now served a total of 7 years in the Air Force as of yesterday. I am not one to promote anything but I would go in the Air Force/ Navy before the Army/Marines but to each his/her own

No armed forces would take me cuz my little bro was already in the Gulf and i was the last of my family's name. (Saving Private Graham)
Idiots. Like I care. I wanted to help. Kinda' glad though cuz that was back when Clinton was F-ing up out military SO bad. Freakin' guy was a traitor to this nation.
Oh, and it ain't just the Army thats F'd up. The Navy and the Cor ehave their bad points too. (I don't know any AF guys/gals for a reference...)

my friend joined the marines, and got put in Faluhja or h/e its spelled... he got shot in the helmet 1 inch away from where the kevlar in his helmet ended. He got knocked unconcious and sent back here. He lived of course, and went to California to the marines sniper school there...

My bro graduated from SMSU (now MSU) and he did the same thing after college - joined the NAvy, and he is now working as an interpreter (arabic). Army is good, but make sure you get what you want, don't let them fast talk you into anything else. Walk out if you don't get it.

So I went in today filled out all the paperwork, and took a practice asvab test. Scored a 58. So tomorrow I go in and take the real thing and they have guaranteed a job as a light weight vehicle mechanic.
And to make this day even better I got a call from a guy about a salvaged srt-4. So there is a swap coming sooooon....

So if you go in....you will probably be going to Fort Leonard Wood for Basic and AIT (Advance Individual Training).
Honestly, I would have to recommend finishing school first.
You would be able to enter in as an E-4, Specialist. Well worth it in the long run.
You could possibly go in as Delayed Entry. You sign a contract and they delay your actually joining for a year.
What are you going to school for? I would definitely try to find something that is related to something you studied or really enjoy.
Being a 63B (Light Wheel Mechanic) is a thankless job....long hours, busted knuckles and nuts...lol
But it is definitely training that you can take with you into civilian life. Diesel Mechanics are in high demand....right?

Why the hell would anyone go to college and get a BA and then go enlisted. It just dosent make dollars.....or cents.....The only way to go is commissioned. Be an officer. Make the money. Be something other than another bullet sponge grunt. Be an officer and lead that group sponges in the direction that you would like...........Go enlisted after getting a BA is almost the stoopidest thing I have ever herd of

actually, AIT is in fort jackson SC... basic could be anywhere, i went to fort knox in KY, but a lot of 63B go to basic also in fort jackson.

other wise you could make it up the ranks in about a year to 2 years...

i've thought about going back after i'm done with school, but i would never be an officer... its not for me.
grunts are the infantry guys... not the mechanics.

So did pretty well on asvab and am looking to go in as E-3!
I'm still getting all my medical records together and traffic violation crap together but all is going pretty good.
And yeah, I dont think i would want to be an officer, at least not at this point. If I were to go that route I might as well finish my accounting degree and push papers for the rest of my life.
