Thinkng about selling the ACR
Ok, I am considering selling my ACR, if and only if I can talk the wife into it being a good thing. I want something more reliable, same price, 2 door, and a larger aftermarket following than the Neon has. As much as I love my car (ask my wife, I DO love it) - I want to get something along the lines of a 99-04 Civic Si/EX or an Integra or RSX. It has only 48300 miles and is in Immaculate condition with all recent work needed done to it, and been driven well.
But I think it is tiem to get something better... I like the neon, but for as much as I spend on it, I can get much better. What are all your opinions....?

The neon has a good sized market for aftermarket!
Civics are so over played! Rsx,s are hot but you pay the price and I dont think they are all that reliable! And Intregra isnt bad.
Rsx's are PRICEY to repair!
I say keep it!
Or go WRX!

I live in Kansas and I am very interested in buying it.... Only if you put it for sale. I will sell my car and buy yours. I would love to have a stick and a HO engine. What do you mean you need something "more realiable" Something is going wrong with your car? Negative on the WRX. I hear the tranny they put in the WRX's cannot support the power they put out. Its the same tranny in the older imprezas that aren't turbo'ed I would go with an RSX type S.

Either get a 99-01 Si, RSX Type-S or keep the Neon. The 02-06 Civic Si's (the EP) are not all that grear for performance. The RSX is a great car. Fun and exciting. Lots of them are coming in on trade for the new Si that just came out. The 99-01 Si (3 body styles ago...lol!) is the most popular style and for good reason. Great car out of the box to mod and drive daily. Problem is, they cost as much as the EP hatch because of the popularity. I'd say go drive an RSX and see what you think. They are much nicer cars than a Neon but the Neon is the value alternative. You feel like you are getting your money's worth in an RSX. The ACR is a great car for screwing around with and an awesome budget racer but that is about it.

Actually, my car runs and drives great. Nothing wrong, except I am bored with it. Mainly, I want a cheaper payment - I can do that if I get the right car for the right price, and I am able to consolidate my two loans for the two cars I own now. Everything is set up, but the wife. I haven't even started to ask her about it - been testing the water for a while now, and seeing how she reacts. If I got 7500 (obo) for it, I could pay off loan and turn around and use what ever was left for tags/title/taxes fee, and be clear to get whatever I wanted - Bank will loan me at a super low rate right now, and with school coming and getting ready to go part time work... well you get the picture.
I know several different dealers here in KC North and already have one who found me a 03 civic ex for what I want to pay - I also found a 98 eclipse gsx that I could get my fingers on too
BUT - that is another story! I also have my eyes on this 04 rsx, but it is going for 17.9k on the sticker, and it has 36k miles!
Besides the wife, my real problem is letting go of a great car and getting into another one that will set me back 2 1/2 more years in car payments. I have less than 3 years left on mine now, and the payments are ungodly low! And insurance is another thing - still have to call the agent to get quotes, etc... who knows, this could end up being a great thing for Raul-01...

I really love everything you have done to your car man. Just keep me updated on what you plan to do. It will fall into good hands if you do decide to sell it and if I decide to buy it. I bet dealers will give you shit for it. Do whatever you think is right.who knows, this could end up being a great thing for Raul-01...

If you are bored w/ it, I say sell it. that way raul can sell me his CG
hahaha
but serioulsy, dont go wrx...they have bad transmissions. A civic SI would be nice, but I would stick w/ the 99ish version instead of the EP SI.
either way, do what makes you happy! but take it from me, new cars are always great

Yeah, I love the WRX, but it is just outta my league... price range
An EVO would be nice too, but... $$$$
I know the used car manager at Northtowne Hyundai/Mazda/VW and he said he would give me more than what I owe for it, so I would have no problems there, but I would much rather sell it to an enthusiast than just pawn it off.
I talk to the wife today about it. We shall see, this could all be for not - she is quite 'strong willed'.

all you have to do is change it up a bit... make it so that it feels like a new carkc2002acr wrote:Nothing wrong, except I am bored with it.
most likely your gonna be upside down... which means that there gonna add that much more to the new car... even when they tell you that they'll give you more for yours.kc2002acr wrote:Mainly, I want a cheaper payment - I can do that if I get the right car for the right price, and I am able to consolidate my two loans for the two cars I own now.

EVERY time I buy a new part, its liek Christmas in a new car. Shoot, even when I wash it it feels new. Go buy a STS. You'll be like a six your old in a candy store for months. Buy a set of Booger Bushings for that matter. It will feel BRAND new every time you shift.
A few months back I was looking at EVO's and STi's and all sorts of cars. (Embarassingly, even a Jag X-type) Fuck that overpriced shit. I love my ACR. Like it or bored with it, or not, you've got a VERY special vehicle there. Enjoy it.

I want to, but I have no chance to buy any new parts because of the problems that arise when I do so with my wife - we are working on it, but that is not a full reason to want to get rid of it - there is much more out there for the same money I have now, and I have always like civics, eclipse's, integra...dblsg wrote:all you have to do is change it up a bit... make it so that it feels like a new carkc2002acr wrote:Nothing wrong, except I am bored with it.
Nope, already talked to the manager, I am getting more than what I owe, plus.dblsg wrote:most likely your gonna be upside down... which means that there gonna add that much more to the new car... even when they tell you that they'll give you more for yours.kc2002acr wrote:Mainly, I want a cheaper payment - I can do that if I get the right car for the right price, and I am able to consolidate my two loans for the two cars I own now.
why not?????? If I can, I should, and if I want a new car, then why not kill two birds with one stone??????dblsg wrote:if the payments are ungodly low, then why are you trying to get a cheaper car payment?kc2002acr wrote: I have less than 3 years left on mine now, and the payments are ungodly low!
I know asking this on a Neon Enthusaist website is dumb; it's like going to Hondata, or somewhere and asking if I should buy a civic or keep the ACR - DUH! But I really wanted to ask to see what your all's opinions were - why? I don't know, why not? I was also wanting to sell it outright for a) more money than trade, and b) to make sure someone who wants a car like this will be much happier (case in point, raul-01) than some schmoe like I met here in KC with one JUST like mine who has no clue what he has and is driving it into the dirt (1000+ miles a week, and drives it hard) and it will someday end up in a junkyard, and there will be one more less ACR...
Thanks for the input, y'all!

I looked at a GS-T Spyder and a GSX AWD today... both beautiful and less than 70k miles each (both 98's). I will say that I could afford either one, but in reality, it would not be the most reliable choice right now - I need something more "certain" as far as cars are concerned.
I also talked to the wife today and she said I can sell it. So, I guess it is for sale now... maybe I should post or something? Or maybe if Raul offers me something good, I will just let him have it

Well, after all was said and done and I was ready to sell and had all the loans and stuff I needed for the car I was going to get - my wife freaked out about me wanting a two-door car and not a 4dr. In three years we will be startign a family and she wants me to keep my 4dr or buy another, and I told her that if that is what she wanted why did she agree to it in the first place? Whatever, it's our car (in our names at least) and I can not do anything without her approving the sale, so forget it - it is still mine. I already spoke to Raul and I feel like total crap for having to back out. I know he understands, and is probably a bit disappointed, but I guess it is for the best. Seems like I am staying on the light side of the force and no longer going to the dark side. Looks like you all will have to put up with me now.
