Ok, I had the pulley intalled today at work. The Tech that builds Mopar muscle cars was very impressed with the quality. His words exactly was:
"This is not bad for something probably made in Japan"
With the proper tools he had the pulley installed in less than 30minutes. He said he never even bothered to remove any of the belts, he used a puller to get the OE pulley off, slid off the OE belts..then used an install tool, slide the shorter belts over the pulleys, ligned up the UDP and put it on.
So far it works perfectly...
I noticed a lil bit more rev happiness with the motor, but no real seat of the pants feel. The only problem I am having is when I get to the 5500-6k rpm range the check engine light flickers a little bit, but there are no hard codes.
So far I give this Ebay pulley a 2 thumbs up, for spending only $65 roughly on the pulley and belts it was not that bad of a deal. Time will tell if there are any problems going to arrise from using it, but for now I recomend it fora cheap mod

Codes are usually one or several of the following... 300,301,302,303, and 304
'02 they bumped up the misfire monitor to all range RPMs isntead of in '01 from 0-3000 RPM so once you get to like 5000 RPMs it think you have a misfire even though you don't.

looks like a knockoff of the OBX, which we know is a knockoff of the unorthodox. i really like the fact that you can pull off the pulley by unscrewing 3 bolts vs removing it with a pulley puller; the unorthodox is 200, the OBX 65, this one is 23... that spells sure winner to me unless lots of people have problems with build quality. it could be just B grade pulleys that obx tried to get rid off by selling them to whoever these guys are, coz they look identical.

DAMN, people are finally online.....
As this topic started, the Ebay pulley is out there and cheap. I have never read any topics about this pulley so I figured I would start one...
As mentioned before, for the price....If it does go bad, my worst case scenario is I have no P.S. or an ALT. Of course I have all the OE parts just incase.
But so far the major improvement is throttle response and 0-60mph. The CEL starts to flash around 5500rpm+ but because it is not a permanent code, I need to hook up the DRB to see if it comes up with anything.....................

If you keep it above 5500 for awhile like all the way to redline a few times in a short period of time the CEL will stay lit.

We'll I did some numerous 5500+ rpm blasts today up to 100mph The sell won't stay lit. And of course I did not get a chance to hook up the drb to see whats going on.
Im wondering if Diablo is right about the knock sensor being more sensitive. When I hit about 6krpm in gear the interior trim is starting to ratle bad. mmm...meanwhile the CEL just flashes until I get the revs down...
The tech that installed the pulley thinks that Diablo is correct, and too many blasts at that RPM will destroy the rod bearings. But its all in theory right now. I have not had the chance to free wheel the motor to see if the UDP is actually wobbling or not. But the tech said that the OE pulley has a lil bit of rubber in it to help with the harmonics at the high RPM's. Wich means even the MPx, or any other UDP thats solid metal will do the same thing.mmm
If anyone has any theories or ideas to add please feel free to post...

BRR its a known 02 problem, it does it with all the pulleys. a UDP on a 02 will usually result in misfire cel codes

Not ALL 02's. I have had mine on for a while now and have yet to get a CEL of any sorts from it. I have had at high RPMS a flash or two, but that was going 120+ mph in 5th.dawm wrote:BRR its a known 02 problem, it does it with all the pulleys. a UDP on a 02 will result in misfire cel codes

If I'm in about 3rd or 4th gear and get it above 5K it'll blink... if i take it all the way to redline it stays on every now and then. It usually isn't like a 1st gear type thing where you're up there real quick then back down, the higher gears you'll be in that range a tad longer enough to make the CEL stay on.
It's a known issue... no one that I know has ever had any wear problems. It'll happen on all UDPs.. MPx, OBX, eBay, UR...

well as of now, I still cant get the CEL to stay lit...
As for top end grunt, I think im restricting myself with the AEM non mag intake. The last intake I had was a DIY 3" and my car pulled hard to redline. Now it falls flat after 4k rpm....
Anyways, to get back on topic
I've been carrying my OE crank pulley and belts with me incase there is a problem and so far to date there is not. The engine responds instantly, no cel's are flickering and the motor just responds better than I expected. But until I get an intake like I used to have, I cant tell you how things are abouve 4krpm...
Catch you all later

you wont see any code issues, aparently they only appear on the 02's for some reason. And most of the time its above 5500rpm. And with your 03 ATX you wont see those revs often enough anyways.
As for improvements on an ATX, it will help atleast get some of your lost power back that you lose through the trani. Remember, with an ATX your losing about 35% of your power because of the slush box.

mmm there was a big discussion a while ago of some guy against gary, that guy claimed that the code (missfire code) is actually caused because the rubber of the stocker isolates vibration in high rpm and UDPs donts, and he claimed it did in fact damaged the engine, but i have never heard about a failure like that on neons with UDPs

***UPDATE***
I got the CEL to stay on today
as the bossman diablo0 put it:
************************************************************
Codes are usually one or several of the following... 300,301,302,303, and 304
'02 they bumped up the misfire monitor to all range RPMs isntead of in '01 from 0-3000 RPM so once you get to like 5000 RPMs it think you have a misfire even though you don't.
************************************************************
Guess what, I had a code P0300....multiple cylinder misfire...
Aparently the motor vibrates or shakes enough at that high of an RPM to trigger a misfire code. Now if the motor is acutally vibrating that bad at those rpm's I wonder how bad it actually is on the motor....
Here is some informational articles I could find about UDP's:
http://www.teamscr.com/pulleys.htm
http://www.theoldone.com/archive/pullie ... lancer.htm
After about an hour+ of research online, those are the worst comments in the links posted above. There are thousands of articles online and I cant find too many that complaign about a solid UDP. I was actually able to narrow down my search to 16,000 topics
As for the neon specifically is concerened, I cant find anything that states in solid proof that it will hurt the motor. The vibrations above 5500rpm shake the car, but from what I can see online...it does it with ALL manufacturers of UDP's.
So honestly, unless someone can come up with some thing different, this Ebay(megan racing) UDP was a steal.......

WHAT BELTS DID YOU USE!!!! hehe
UR's website has the k040322 and k040506 listed for the pulley now, they used to have k040320 and k040500. im wondering why they changed it.. and which belts do i need to get.

I installed this pulley and yet to have any major problems with misalignemnts and what not. As for seat of the pants feel.....
With the Lorenzo TB installed and removed while using this UDP I felt no difference in overall performance (butt dyno). I actually felt more of a gain using the UDP Vs the Lorenzo TB.
As for the check engine light, it starts to flash above 5500rpm and the chime in the dash goes off...then I shift at 6k rpm and the light stops flashing. If I do it to many times in a row the CEL light will stay on for a day or so and If I drive it normally the CEL will go away.
I still have not had a chance to plug my car into DCx to see if there is a softwware update that might cure this though....
I also noticed something today that someone else has mentioned:
Unorthodox Racing pulley...
Ebay Pulley:
To me they look the same.....mmm
