UPDATED: Dyno Results -

Image

As you can see it's not a whole lot... about 3.5whp and 3lbs torque. The main gain on an R/T is after the secondary intake runners open around 5,000 RPM. Even still... those that have one can say that it's A LOT better than the stock TB. I drove 4 hours up to the dyno day on the stock TB and good lord does it suck ass. Feels so much better with the MPx 60MM back on now.

Also... There was a 2003-2004 R/T there also. Thermal RD Dual Tip exhaust, didn't see a resonator in the fender but didn't sound like it had a CAI. Could have had other stuff done to it, not sure, didn't know who's it was... I believe he put down on his first pull... 117whp and on the second pull it he did 124whp. I can't remember the torque right now, I should have written it down.

117 HP?

That doesn't sound right.

My 04 R/T did 135 @ 126 with an intake, and another HP when we removed the muffler.

136 and 128 isn't too bad though, I know my car is probably 129 /122 at best right now.

****post resurection****
I figured I resurect this post Vs starting a new one.....

Thanks to neonchic, I now have a MPx TB:
http://mysite.verizon.net/vze76v46/site ... engine.jpg

It works so well I actually had the city cops at my house trying to bust me for burnouts....
http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=4079 (scroll down to read the story)

I honestly can say this was DEFINATELY worth the money! by my seat of the paints dyno, I gained more bottom and top end, but lost a little mid range. Im assuming thats due to the fact that the secondaries are shut. Since if you do a hard pull, you can feel the car slow down a bit between 3k-5k. Basically when the secondaries are shut. Im actually considering on removing them again
Throttle response was also changed, talk about a quick rev now. And exhaust tone is a little deeper too.
I friend of mine took it for a test run yesterday, and his response was exactly as I posted above. So as fur BUTT DYNO's are concerned...its worth it. And no, no codes where thrown with this TB, I just installed it, reset my computer and fired it up without any problems. It even idles at 900rpm without any adjustments!! :D

ya know i wouldnt really waste my money on a 60 mm throttle until you had some major upgrades... and oh ya with the IAC issue, 2003+'s might not like the larger throttle, since the computers are more aggresive. they dont like changes, plus they sell adapter kits for the IAC, as well, to bolt directly on so you dont need some aftermarket crap. anyways later ya'll

^^^^ LoL -

Post resurrection i guess ? ? ?

Im sorta doing it to : )

Anyways - I would disagree with what you said
The 60mm Isnt really a "WASTE" of money - Even if you are doing "Larger" upgrades in the future - Its still a decent "investment" (for lack of a better word)

- As far as 2003's+ - Im not sure about the computer situation . . .

figure, stock TB is 51.35mm opening (plus take away from the plate, screws, etc.) and the mag intake opening is 53.5mm. So figure 50mm opening stock, yeah you should see some gains. For best results, open up the piping some on the intake manifold (Just did mine, but no 60mm TB on my end)

Another post resurection! lol.

I felt I needed to add just one little piece of info concerning the MPx 60mm TB.

Contrary to popular belief, it is actually possibe to integrate the MPx TB into the stock airbox. If fact it is quite simple to do so. The install only took me about 30 minutes.

Here's how to do it:
1. Tap the two holes on the inlet end of the TB
2. Drill two matching holes in the airbox
3. Bolt the TB directly to the airbox

The stock intake tube from the TB to the intake manifold is almost the perfect length too. You may have to stretch it just a bit, but not more than a quarter of an inch.

I planned on doing that with my 02 once I get my SRT hood done. That way I can utilize the 03 SRT airbox and hood for a ram air setup. And for FYI to anyone reading this, the MPx has the holes not the LFS TB....

ive been meaning to ask, could those of you with 03+ neons (non rt/acr) give me some feedback about how the car responds to the larger TB? any problems with the ecu? anything I should know? seeing as how the rts have CEL problems and "limp mode", I dont wanna pursue my interest in the upgraded TB if im gonna end up having more problems than its worth. thanks

the 03 R/Ts are the only ones that have issues with LImp Mode.. So i dont think you have anything to worry about except more fuel being consumed by a Hungry car.

when i had mine on (still have not gotten around to putting it back on yet) the throttle responce was great. it was like, touch and go for me. But with the rising gas prices i have not been jumping on it like i used to. I also got the TSB update for my ecu, which im hoping will fix the limp mode/cel when i put it back in. if not, then i have a MAP clamp to install, so im not worried.

Well..... I've got the MPx 60mm in the back seat awaitin the arrival of my K&N CAI. I'll also be putting in a Crane 400 (as long as I find out it will work with my setup) and possibly an OBX header all at the same time. I'm more for the all at once method as I have to pay to use garage space..... so I'll make the most out of it. I have an 05 so I'm worried the NGC will have a heart attack with it. I'm really on the borderline about doing it all at once.... but I really want to feel a LARGE increase when I do it. I'm also still up in the air about doing a UDP at the same time. I think I may just have to do it though.... I'll be doing all this in the next two to three weeks. Everything is ordered or money sent.... just waiting for it to come in.

EDIT: JK, it should work, but if it doesnt, i bet u can guess why!

Do a quick search, those that tried to put them on either said it would not fit properly or it threw codes or something...
I think it might be just the 03+ r/t's I dont remeber...

I got mine installed, will posts pics soon, but right now I am a bit upset with the whole thing - it busted out my silcone coupler when installing, so I had to buy another. I will get it thursday. But, on a better note, I am very pleased with it!!! I love the response, and now I can not keep my foot off of it. For those of you wondering about performance, I will say that the mid range for me (4k-5k) is now way more responsive. I use to lag in this ranger (even moreso in the 3k-4k) but now this feels like my 2ndaries opening up at 4k and once I hit 5k, BOOYAH! Wow, all I have to say. My car has responded well to mods (must be its 'racing' roots) and I must say that this is the 2nd best mod so far to date (next to the UDP!).

deffinately must have this mod. Oh, and sorry, I got the Lorenzo (I know it is a topic about MPx TB, but hey!!!)

Going a little off topic here quick, do your search on UDP's, the 02 R/T is known to throw a check engine light after reving it to high for to long....
As for the LFS TB, I had that on my R/T with the UDP, the sad part is my car felt the same after removing the lorenzo....
When I had the MPx TB the car seemed to have more power, but then I did not have the UDP....soon I'll have another MPx TB(hopefully) and I'll let you know what I experience then with the UDP and the MPx combo...

I just installed my MPx T.B. and I want to brake something......

The little end of the throttle cable that goes into the butterfly lever would not go into the whole. I just did not fit so I had to bang it in there with a mallett and chissle.....anyways I dont really feel what everyone is talking about with the SO Responsive and such Yeah it feels a super slite more responsive and there is no more gay ass whistle or engine code being thrown but other than it looking nice I dont really think it is worth buying untill you do some serious mods

On a side note........It does make the growl of your intake deeper and more pronounced..

Anyways that is just my 2cents

just got both yay! but the throttle body inlet is alot bigger. I know the throttle body is going to float after this install. I'm afraid its going to bust through the coupler? Anyone else encounter this? Have you done anything about it or is it perfectly safe to keep it the way it is?
