Huh? The TB is very tight on the coupler, yes... you'll just have to force it on. I used some WD-40 or Ether to get the coupler over the inlet easier.

that's not what im worried about. The cai tubing does not fit over the throttle body inlet. I'm just worried that the coupler will not be strong enough to hold a billet aluminum throttle body.

The metal CAI tube isn't supposed to fit over the TB inlet. Care to post or PM me a picture of what you are trying to do?

okie here is the pic. I'm worried that the TB is gonna fall out of the coupler because the cai tubing does not fit directly above or inside of the TB inlet. i just want to know if its ok if it's held by the rubber hose. I got this cai for super cheap. i also need two more rubber hoses and clamps. know where i can buy good qual ones that will hold the TB up too?

Thats completely normal. The intake tube does not go over or inside the TB inlet. It's simply held together with rubber couplers and clamps. You can buy some at www.moderperformance.com

Got my 60mm TB installed the other day. No real complications, it was generally an easy thing to do. With some slight modifactions to my K&N CAI TB mounts, i was able to bolt the 60mm to it.

On first take off, it was a bit difficult to get used to the EXTREME change in throttle response. I barly sit my foot on the gas and my car is all ready to go.

Over-all, I didn't feel any gains. Over-all tone of my car didn't change either. I found it ALOT easier for me to launch though. I'm now able to launch perfectally, no tire spin, no bogging down, just get up and go.

I'm generally a happy person and would suggest this to anyone.

Had my Iceman CAI for about a year before I upgraded the stock TB with the MTx 60mm and after I took off the stock one I noticed that the diameter difference over stock was huge. Also the stock butterfly seemed to choke off the air supply at full throttle (like it over-opened, about 120 degrees instead of 90). After install I noticed a quicker response and that pick-up between 35-50 mph seemed a little peppier (4 spd auto-trans so no RPM range, 2nd gear right before 3rd). Would I do it again? Yup.

Mine should be here tomorrow, I can't wait to install it.

I need some freaking butt dyno results to justify the money spent on it.

Was just on modernperformance and saw their new layout, nice finally added a shopping kart, one thing i noticed is it said the throttle body will not fit the 05. Does anyone with an 05 have one and if so why all of a sudden would they say it doesn't fit an 05

Okay ordered it on Friday, shipped on Monday and I had it by lunch today (wednesday).

Installation went pretty smooth. I have an AEM CAI so that helped a lot. I am on crutches so I move a little slower and can't stand for long periods of time and I still got it on in 30-45 minutes. The only problem I had was the tube that goes on the brass fitting wasn't long enough. I was able to stretch it but it barely made it...I will pick up a longer tube later. It also took me a few minutes to realize that if I unhook the CAI from the battery tray I can move it and wiggle the TB into the couplers A LOT easier.

I was shocked to see how small in comparison the stock TB was and as previosuly mentioned at WOT the throttle plate is past 90 degrees by quite a bit so you get less flow at 100% throttle than say about 85-90%!

The car revs quicker and smoother. The gas pedal is real sensitive now. It has a little deeper sound to it, but not much. It might pull a little harder in bottom and mid range but the stock intake manifold, head, and stock cam are probably the limiting factors at WOT.

Good piece would be even better if made of high impact plastic like the stock one (much lighter)...but not as purdy.

I am still waiting for that magical bolt on that will snap my head back and put a grin on my face from ear to ear...so far everything has been a "slight improvement", but an improvement none the less...I need to bolt on one of those "TURBO" things I hear people talking about...either that or NOS

I got all the necessary hardware (6 bolts, the brass fitting, and a small piece of rubber hose) I didn't use the hose for anything as it was too short but I think the section it was suppose to connect to had been altered.

Everything bolts up real easy...especially if you already have a CAI.

Hmmm, maybe they changed design so it can use the stock bolts.

I just received mine today and I tried installing it but it would line up correctly. This must be an 05 thing, eh... The throttle cable bracket needs to be modded and hole on the MPX TB where the cable "balls" (for lack of a better word) needs to be made a little wider.

I'll be doing this this weekend. Would you guys like me to make a short how-to on this modding?

I modded the TB by widening the throttle cable holes to fit my 05 atx but once the car was started the throttle was fluctuating a lot and I got code P2074 MANIFOLD PRESSURE/THROTTLE POSITION CORRELATION
- HIGH FLOW/VACUUM LEAK

Anyone know a way to fix this and make it work? Otherwise I'll be selling the TB soon or I'll have to get another neon lol... :banghead:

Did you get it figured out? Sounds like a vacuum leak. But anything is possible. Maybe the '05 PCM is too picky, altho it should have been able to keep an idle under control. I could understand if it was part to WOT.

Progress?

Post by ALD52 » Thu Jun 12, 2008 12:07 pm

Has anyone made any progress with this issue?

I recently installed a MPx 60mm TB on my '03 Neon R/T, and most of the time the car runs great. However, about once a week or so it is throwing the P0068 TPS/MAP correlation code, which usually goes away when I turn the car off and on again, then the car is fine for another week. After I first installed it, the code came up more often, but after a few days it became less and less frequent.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it will come on.

Is there an aftermarket PCM that will override this? Any chance this will eventually go away completely?

Your kind of stuck. Some throw the code, some don't. If you throw the code, you might as well sell the TB. If you don't throw the code your good to go.

No one has released any aftermarket computer options for the 03+ computers, unless you go with a full standalone such as megasquirt.
