SRT struts on 05 SXT
SRT struts on 05 SXT
I know some people have talked about this, but I have some questions that I don't think have been answered exactly. I should first begin by saying that I want to use SRT rims on my SXT. I know that the stock tires on an SRT are too tall to fit on my car w/o rubbing, and a lot of people told me on srtforums that using a 40 profile tire is unsafe because they are designed for a 7" wheel and stock SRT rims are 6". Soooo that leaves me with changing the struts. From what I gather, I only need the SRT struts and some lowering springs to get my car looking and working right with the stock SRT rims. What i want to know is: #1. How difficult is this swap for an average person, #2. Roughly how much would it cost, and #3 (this may be a totally newb question but) WILL IT VOID MY CHRYSLER WARRANTY? My car is still under bumper to bumper coverage and I'm not going to throw that away so I can use SRT rims. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!

i dont know how difficult it is because i have never done it, same thing with the cost.
it will probably void the suspension warranty, if there is any left. i believe the suspension warranty is only 12000 miles or 1 year. if should not affect the rest of your warranty. but i have heard of dealerships throwing fits about having tires that are bigger than stock on cars. you will change the acceleration of you car, if you weren't aware of that. taller tires = worse effective gearing.

IT will void the Warranty ONLY on the suspension and any problems that the dealership can relate to it.... boy do they get creative ....

Everyone knows that for breasts to be "perfect" they need to be within reach.
O, as in "the mechanic left a wrench in your motor, but the reason it blew up is because you have those struts and 17" rims"
But on a serious note, can anyone confirm that the suspension warranty is shot after 12k, and is this worth doing, or is there a better way to get the rims on my car (preferably from someone who has done this and their car HASN'T fallen apart as a result lol)?
Thanks!

i just looked through my owners information. it says that the wheel alignment is covered for 12000miles, it says nothing about the rest of the suspension. but i do remember hearing from the dealer that the suspension was only 12000 miles. maybe i heard wrong.
TNK has srt wheels on one of his cars, i think its his wife's car. he would be the one to talk to. i don't know what other suspension stuff was done.
another thing to think about is the taller tire will also change how the odometer reads. i believe that if the odometer reads 1000 miles, the actual miles driven will be more when you have taller tires. they could peg you for tampering with the odometer or something along that line. blackroseracing would be the one to ask about this. he works at a dealer and gives honest answers about things like this.
ill send a pm to TNK and to BRR asking them for their input in this thread.

Wearable items like, belts,brakes,clutches..etc... only are covered for 12k miles
Other items, suspension, mechanical, electrical are covered 3/36
and depending on the model, drivetrain could be, 7/70-8/80.....
As for swapping over to the SRT struts, its not worth the time unless you want to put the wider tires on like the srt uses.
