just read the how-to on srt-4 rear brakes and they look just like my rear brakes.. 01 neon... arent they the same?

just did some quick searching and it appears that the srt rear brakes are a little thicker than the r/t rear brakes.

and i believe that the se/sxt had the same rear brakes as the r/t so i would assume that srt rear brakes are a little thicker than your brakes.

I did a drum brake to SRT-4 rear disc swap last weekend they use the same calipers except they are painted red. Since you already have 4 wheel disc, then buy SRT rotors and pads to bring the rears to SRT level.

Just like everyone said, the brake setups are nearly identical with the only difference being slightly thinker rotors. The calipers are the same, only powder coated red. The rear spindles are a little different as well but thats more suspension related than brakes.

ok cool thanks for the info... see i have seen them on srt4's parked but never took a close look so when i saw the pics on here i was like hey!....theyre the same.... but yea... i actually have my calipers painted red as well....any performance out of the rotor bein thicker besides the fact it keeps it cooler..... does it keep it cooler?... and how about the front brakes any difference there between se and srt4..... i have the "sport package" on my neon... or so i was told if that changes anything... i dont think i would make the change to srt4 rear discs just because of the fact that these ones are already pretty dam good at stoppin

Damn I didn't know that... So you're saying that I can just get some srt rotors and brake pads and I'll have the srt setup??? Whoa... where in the hell have I been...

Yah, pretty much... the only real big difference is the rotor thickness which would help lessen the chance of the rotor warping under hard braking. The pad material may also be different but I'd just go ahead and swap over to some Hawk or EBC pads if you haven't already...

As far as front brakes... SE and SRT are completely different so in order to swap over to the SRT setup you'd need to find the front SRT knuckles, steering rack, calipers, caliper bracket, pads, and the flexiable brake lines that run to the caliper. It's a little more involving...

I was just researching this today. It appears that the SRT-4 (and PT Cruiser) rear caliper pistons are 36mm diameter, while the non-turbo 2nd gen rear caliper pistons are 34mm diameter. I know that the caliper piston kits (both front and rear) are a different part number for the SRT-4/PT vs the other 2nd gens, and the listing called the rear piston seal a 36mm on the SRT-4. So the rear calipers are not just standard 2nd gen parts with red paint on them.

It would make sense for the factory to use a larger diameter rear caliper piston on SRT-4 vs other 2nd gens, because the SRT-4 (and PT Cruiser) front brakes have larger diameter rotors and (I'm pretty sure) larger diameter front caliper pistons than other 2nd gens. Upsizing the rear caliper pistons too would keep the native brake proportioning consistent with non-turbo 2nd gen values.

No, the calipers are a little different, but yes, other than that, you would only need the rotors and pads if you already have rear disks.
