Need some help

Post by jbizzy » Sun Apr 01, 2007 7:41 pm

I just got my 05 neon sxt and I cant stand how high the car sits. It looks like i could could take the car up a friggin mountain if i wanted too haha. So naturally ive been looking to lower it front and back. I really want to keep the soft stock ride but im willing to give up little if i have to. I've been researching it and it seems like if i get lowering springs i should also get some new struts. So i guess my question is, are there any springs that will work with the stock struts and lower my car around 1-2"? If not, what type of struts should i be looking at? Im not looking for top of the line stuff just something that will lower the car while not breaking the bank if ya know what i mean. Thanks for any info you guys can give me!

Basically, if you use your stock struts they will blow out quickly (not exactly sure why, but that is the buzz). Now with new springs (I'll recommend the Eibach Sportlines, but you'll either see or hear from other people about other brands) you'll need to struts. Alot of people are using the Tokicos blues or KYB GR2, there may be others

I'm running on Eibach Sportlines and KYBs and get a fairly smooth ride with great performance.

If cash is a problem I've heard of people using SRT setup and some other stock neon parts, but they won't give the drop that I think your after.

There has been alot of talk about this sort of thing, so the Search feature might be a bit of work, but take a look around too and you might find more info for what your looking for.

Welcome to 2gn BTW.

Yep I looked through some old posts and got the idea the eibachs with tokicos was the way to go but i just wanted to see if there were other options.

So should i look for something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOKICO-H ... dZViewItem

or

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Tokico-S ... dZViewItem ???

I've never done much with suspension on any of my cars so sorry if im asking a lot of questions

thanks for the info and the friendly welcome!

try looking at stuff on Modern Performance

http://www.modernperformance.com/

or Summit Racing
http://www.summitracing.com/

these are good starters... I'd personally be weary of buying used struts... who knows if they are good or not.
