you can run 205/45 as well..
if u run srt struts u can run a .../50/17
just depends, if u run 205/40 205/45 on a non lowered neon, it will make ur neon look even more 4x4ish

Just remember if you change the tire height you will affect the speedometer too. 205/40R17's have the benefit of being very close to the stock height and keeps your speedo reading right.

...and a 40 series gives you very little shock absorbance for the ride and potholes...

The 40 will give you worst than the already bumpy ride?

not really^ i have been running my snow's with my stock tires and just threw my rims on with the 40 sidewall and there is def. more give with the stock tires. You can feel the difference but i love the look so i don't care. It doesn't matter anyway when you have a 450 springrate

I'm runnin SRT rims... but I do have to say that I have better rubber than stock tires. I've noticed a huge difference in my handeling and nothing unconformtable in "normal" driving. Its smooth drivin...
When fliggin dicks around the rubber is what matters...
okay well not entirely, but I think I have a pretty tuned suspension so who knows why I feel my 40s aren't a bad ride... Reno doesn't have the best of roads either.

I just put some 205/40's on my srt wheels, and rode down the roughest road i could find (without huge potholes lol), while there is less softness in the ride, it's not bad. it definitely picks up tiny bumps in the road tho. overall ride quality is still decent.

If you're worried about the tire absorping road imperfections and having a smooth ride then don't run 17" rims. Keep the 15's on it.
I can feel more of the road with my 17's than I did with my 15's but it's not objectionable to me.

This is like the forth thread this week about tire sizes and what will work with what and yada, yada, yada. Can someone with time and knowledge compile some information on this based on stock suspension, and sticky it for all to see? I know we all just wanna help a brother out and all but I think since so many questions on the same topic are popping up and everyone seems to be conflicting in thier reasons for this size and that it just makes sense to get a list of stock and "safe" alternates (for +1, +2 and so on rim sizes).
By the way...I have no time!

they are compiling a FAQ and if this is not in there, i bet it will be.
there has always been questions about what tires fit and such.
215/40/17 are just as close to stock as 205/40/17 are.
also, iirc the srt wheel is still only a 6"wide wheel. so technically a 205/40 or 215/40 will fit on the wheel, but personally i wouldnt do it.
