When I was replacing the rear struts, I had to take the caliper off. When I did one brake pad fell out. I put it back on and installed as I did before. So I just had my wife drive me up the gravel drive way and I hung my head out the door and heard it distinctly from the wheel area. Then I put my finger on the pad nearest the ebrake surround (after the car was stopped) and I could wiggle the brake pad.
So, is this a brake pad issue, or a caliper issue?

Sounds like the anti-rattle/retaining clips got bent and is not staying tight. So it would be a damaged set of pads at this point.
Or you may have knocked off one or both of the anti-rattle/caliper adapters off the knuckle (where the pads ride) and it now has play.
Check it out should become obvious soon enough.
