2000 and up energy suspension kit

Post by farmboy » Wed Sep 05, 2007 2:08 pm

just got this in today and will be installing it soon. my question is this...

Modern Performance assured me this was direct fit, and i haven't tried to install it yet, but the parts list says the sway bar bushings are 20mm up front and 14mm in the back. with my 02 R/T, if i remember correctly, the front sway bar is 22mm and the rear one is 19mm? will these still fit properly or will there need to be some cutting involved?

I do not know if they fit, but I know that you are correct on the rt sway mm sizes... try it, do a test fit, prefit without taking it off (get underneath and stick it on there somewhere).

Hi Doug :D

You are very correct in regards to the sizing for the sway sizes.

As far as the kit goes, when I was at my parts place last week, they said to order the sway bar links for the SRT, so that the fit would be close.

the kit i got says it's for any 2000 + neon AND all SRT-4's.? i'll try it when my friend and i get the time to put the kit on, probably won't be for a few weeks. if they don't come anywhere near to fitting, i'll call modern and ask them if they're the right ones.

One reason I got prothane. It comes with 2 front sway bar bushings sizes and 3 for out back. No problems.

You may have to order some bushings.

So there really is no real difference between the two kits other than ES comes in both black and red and Prothane (apparently) is only available in black?

And it's no biggie with the sway bar body mount bushings. Even if you can't use them, someone on here will. Sell them for the same price as what you would have to pay for up size body mounts.

I am getting the full kit as soon as I can since the hard stuff is almost over (control arms)

so I finally got around to installing this kit yesterday with the help of a couple friends. took us about 10 hours to do the instal, (we ran into a few small problems), as well as install TEIN Super Street Dampener coilovers.

The control arm bushings caused us the biggest issue as the main bushing come in 3 pieces and we had to try a few different methods before we got it to go together right. The other major issue we ran into, (was more of an irritant than a problem), was the 3 of the front sway bar bolts snapped off as I was trying to get them out. a little heat and an Easy out and they were out too.

Found out when we were changing the struts to the coilovers that one of my front sturts was blown too. It couldn't have happened too long ago but I don't know when exactly. the car's been parked since mid november.

Now i just have to wait for the spring to pull the car out, get a 4 wheel alignment and have some fun on some really good twisty roads that i know of. too bad that's at least 2 months away...

wow, you're lucky. that didn't even work for me. i ended up putting a whole new nut and bolt setup in on one side.
