So i was changing my tires and i disengaged my ebrake. For some reason it was really hard to press in the button but when it went down i heard this click noise so i tried pulling it back up to engage it and it wouldnt engage. no matter how u try and pull the ebrake up it just wont click to engage. I removed the center console to take a look at the spring and actual brake lines and they seem fine. So is the ebrake handle mechanism broken??...
if so how the heck do i get another one?
DOnt know many junkyards that have 2000 neons in them
any help would be greatly appreciated as i have to park on hills alot and i prefer to keep my car out of an accident[/i]
ebrake broke

With the center console out and you pull the handle up, do the cables move at all? If they move it sounds like something at the wheels or the cables snapped... strange it would do it on both sides at the same time though. If the cable doesn't move under the center console then it sounds more like they eBrake lever is broken.

Just went through this on my moms Windstar. More than likely they didn't change the design between the 00-05 year design, if all you can find is 1gns take a look at a junkyard on those, they could be the same too.
