My 00 is showing it's age in the strut department at 70K miles. Since I'll have the car apart I'd really like to lower it 1.5"-2" as well as reduce the jacked-up-in-the-rear stock look. I know from past vehicles that some lowering springs have a liveable ride while others have a miserable one.

Does anyone have a spring/strut combo that lowers the car but still has a decent ride? I like the way the car rides now, it's just the center of gravity feels too high and it looks funny.

I know you don't get something for nothing but I'm looking for the most comfortable lowering option that I can hopefully afford soon.

A lot of people are going to tell you their set up is the best, honestly. But if you are looking for a small drop, and still good ride quality, go with Eibach Pro Kit (1.5" drop) and Tokico or KYB struts. If you want a little more drop, go progess springs (1.8" drop) Or H&R springs everyone swears by. I forget what the drop on those ones.

If you really wanna slam it down, get tein s-tech springs or eibach sportline kit, but they are much more stiffer.

I'm fairly certain that lowering your car in general will stiffen your ride due to having less space available for the springs to travel. With that said, I also believe this is where progressive style springs come into play with giving a fairly smooth ride till you kick it into fun mode. Like Glasswars said, pretty much everyone will swear by their setup - mine being Eibach sportlines and KYB GR2 (which is pretty aggressive and probably not what you are looking for), so unless I'm wrong, you'd want to look for that progressive style spring and a good strut to go with them.

Thanks for the advice. The first thing I usually do with a car is suspension work without comfort in mind. I'm doing mostly the opposite with this car so lowering may not be in my future. I haven't decided yet. I could put up with a stiffer ride than stock but not a lot at this point.

Some of the combos suggested are ones I'm considering. I just wish I could find someone local with these setups to give me a ride like I've been able to do with some of my other cars.
