bushings

Post by w0158981 » Wed Aug 13, 2008 10:07 pm

so juss had my inspection and the mechanic told me my bushings are shot so i'm just wondering what i need for a stock 2000 neon.

I've been looking but i'm noticeing that bushings like the front and rear sway bar come in 12, 14, 24mm etc and i'm juss lost. So i'm wondering what i'm looking for to replace all my bushings.

which bushings?
Lower control arm?
Sway bar?

For lower control arm bushings - alot of guys install urethane bushings - Myself - I replaced the entire lower control arm - for your 2000 you can buy the entire lower control arm for 79.00 - which includes both bushings and a new ball joint - not hard to do 3 bolts and removing the say bar end link - vs R&I the lower control arm and pressing the bushing in and out

Hope this helps
2000 LX 3sp Auto, 201,000 miles, Orig engine and trans - both have never been apart other than reg maint. 33 mpg

Both kits are about $100 from modern and they are the best upgrade for the $ you can do.

Prothane is easyer to put in because the larger bushings are 2 pieces as opposed to Energys "press it until it works" ideas
