upgraded rotors and pads.

I have an srt-4 and did a front brake conversion to 2000 neon front spindles rotors hubs and calipers. I did this to be able to run 13" Bogart wheels and 13x26x8.5 slicks.
I am looking for information on upgraded rotors and pads that are the same dimensions as factory.
with trap speeds of 123 and soon to be higher and an auto trans that I may need to foot brake if I cannot find a trans brake valve body, I need the extra stopping / braking power.

you could do the wilwood big brake kit on just the front. (and keep the stock drums on the back for weight reduction ) Be warned... it's pretty pricey.

And since you converted to srt-4 front rotors then it should be a direct fit since these parts are for srt's. It says that the rotors are 12.19" so i'm not sure if you'd have fitment issues with your 13" wheel setup...

You will most likely have fitament issues with the 13 inch drag wheels. The rotor is 12.9"...add another 1.5 to 2" for the caliper itself.

That won't work since he converted from SRT to regular Neon brakes.

You may have to settle for a good pad upgrade...EBC, Hawk, etc. I wouldn't worry about the rotors unless they are warped or heavily worn. If so, you could look at some cross-drilled or slotted rotors, but I think for your use stock rotors would be fine.

oh... totally missed that. I thought he had a 2000 neon and converted to srt brakes....

If you're worried about stopping in time, a pad upgrade would work and also SLOTTED ONLY rotors. Don't get drilled rotors since putting the brakes on at those high speeds would crack the rotors in no time.

OMG I so F*in hate you  . You have a lift in your home garage?!!! That's my dream garage!!! Lucky bastid  . Anyhoo, I've had great success with a set of ATE slotted rotors up front. I got them from the Tire Rack @ $46ish/ea. Try them out!

Later
Allex

PS I'm still in jealousy over your garage/shop

The complete swap was with all new parts except for the knuckles and hubs but they were treated to new bearings, After a day at the track with about 5 or so 120mph runs there is a noticeable "bluing" of the rotors on the outer perimeter. and we use the trans and downshift to help save the brakes . It may have been that we did not take the time to seat the brakes and the first real stop was from speed.

we are in the mint hill area we have the motor out right now being built along with the head by TK motorsports and are also in the process of having Steve Lockett build an auto trans that will withstand 800 hp.
but if you want to come by some day PM me

wow man, you are doing great things with that car. Ill defiantly PM you sometime, when do you think the motorwork will be finished?

motor and head should be done in three to four weeks. just had a new crank sent to TKM and then it goes out for cryo treating all the mach work is done.
The auto trans is another story, that could be 3 months or more it all depends on how long it will be tohave the inputshaft made and the manual reverse valve body and trans brake built.

Sounds cool man.

Ill be in touch. Just curious, are you going to take this out on the new dragway anytime soon?

Sorry, I know I'm thread-jacking.

Hawk HPS pads are a good bet for your situation. Any decent aftermarket rotors will work. Non-slotted OE style rotors are probably up to the task as well. Honestly, no rotor that small is going to handle too much abuse, but if you want good stopping power and arent worried about longevity, get the nastiest Hawk pads you can find and just replace the rotors when needed. How much do your 13" wheel weigh, if you dont mind my asking?

JAKE and OB

Not thread jacking lol no prob.
when we get it running I hope that will be our home track. But from what I understand Z-Max dragway will be finishing construction for about a year and will not be ready for the public untill late next summer or early fall, Hope I am wrong.

OB
The wheels weigh under 8 lbs and wheel with slick is under 17 lb.
