Anyone replaced their inner tie rods
I just ordered and rec'd inners and outers
opened the box for the inners - the part that screwed to the rack has no flats for a crows foot or wrench or......
I am WTF
are the OE equipment like that ??
anyone replaced theirs?
hate to use a big vise grip or channel locks to try and grab ahold of the body in order to loosen.
ALL inner tie rods I have done had flats....
Let me know - I am not doing the job this weekend
Maybe next
Thanks

I did it awhile back and yeah, the OE rods don't have it either as they aren't serviceable from the factory. I just used a vice grip on the socket part and got it as tight as I could.

You can get a special tool made for inner tie rod ends. The tool works with the different ends for the different types of tie rods. Here is a listing for the Lisle one...

The rack boots should be available through Moog or Spicer.

Only thing I could find ^^^^ I don't think anyone sells specific ones for the neon since the whole rack is not supposed to be serviceable..!!! probably any generic boot could work with some modifications
Danteneon is the one to ask about this
good luck

I just did inner and outer tie rods on my sisters 02 ES this week, I used moog parts which have wrench flats (thank god) and I reused the boots with no problem. If I ended up getting inners with no wrench flats I would have dropped the K-member to make sure I got the ends on there tight enough.

I'm having a hell of a time finding a supplier for the rack boots

But like Blivitt02 said, the boots are 99% of the time re-usable.

I ended up reusing the rack boots - they were very pliable - surprised
Installed inner and outer tie rods
Inners where prob still fine - hard to believe
Outers needed it - this is my second set

Good deal

It doesn't surprise me that the rack boots were still good. Now, if you had a Saginaw rack with the hard plastic boots, that would be a different story
