i really hate driving my neon on windy days...especially @ 40+ mph. it feels like i could lose total control at any second. anyone else have this problem? Is my neon too light? perhaps its my small ass stock sized tires? i want to eliminate this problem if at all possible.

I still have the problem with coilovers. It isn't as bad as it used to be but it's still pretty damn annoying.

Word :withstupid:

Lowering will help noticeably but only a bit, and remember the car is pretty damn light.

This will happen with any car, not just with your neon. Don't worry ^^

I don't have too big of a problem with wind. Maybe I'm just used to SUV's, but the neon seem's pretty stable. I had to blow by a Camaro (small eighties type) once on a windy day. The guy was having troubles keeping it straight. he was only doing 35mph so it wasn't a big feat. I remember thinking those where supposed to be pretty good at handling. Yes it is lowered, but only about 1.5 ish. that was with the SE sways.

You want a real driving experience in the wind, try trying a 45 foot motor coach or a tractor trailer on a windy day,. I agree with sordfish. If you are worried about driving your neon on windy days, you shouldn't be driving.

He, He, that reminds me of the footage they had once where a cattle truck got blown off the road, and beef was running everywhere. :owned:

I think I know the problem.

OP doesn't have the SRT-4 spoiler. Provides 10,000 ft-lbs of down force.

Some Neons have been known to fly off into space without the wing

the neon is a relatively light car so you will feel it regardless but lowering could help slightly.

ok so a coilover is an automobile suspension device, short for "coil (spring) over strut". It consists of a shock absorber (British: damper) with a coil spring encircling it. The shock absorber and spring are preassembled as a unit prior to installation, and are replaced as a unit when the shock absorber has leaked. This provides for optimal damping without torsional loads. Some coilovers are adjustable for ride height and hardness as well using a simple threaded spring perch similar to a nut.

(coppied from wikipedia)

Suspension components. Strut + Spring as one component = Coilover. (basically)

N.B. On windy days more driver interaction is required to keep the car tracking straight. Neon is no worse than any other small car in the wind.
