installing a new wheel hub questions

Have some questions about how to achive better handling and stopping power using different springs, upgrading to coilovers, questions on swaybars, bushings, different rotors, pads, ect... Having any steering problems or questions about steering racks, tie rods, tie rod ends, ect... ask these questions here.

what tools are needed anything specialty the bearing is already in it. any tips?

rear hub?

just a 30 or 32mm socket (i forget) for the nut.. thats it.. it pulls right off

should take you 20 minutes to do

I believe the hub and bearing are separate. you need a hydraulic press to assemble them.

30mm socket. hub and bearing are sold as one piece for the rears.

yup -- i forgot to mention that part.

my Timken hub from Advanced Auto Parts is still running strong. but then i had to go to AutoZone to rent the 30mm socket.. lol.

its front hub the bearing is already in there its form a junk yard is there a way to tell if its front or rear? im 99% sure its front

so how are the fronts, my front passenger is gone... is the process close to the same for the rears?

New hubs do not come with the bearings installed. So for the front you will need to press them in with at least a 12 ton press. Outside of that it is pretty straight forward.

Maybe new front hubs, but rears come with the bearings installed.. i know this because the three different brands i had to choose from, all came ready to install.

Really the cheap thing to do is start by changing the bearing. its roughly $50 plus alignment. If that doesn't fix the problem then you will most likely have to change the knukle/spindle & bearing. This is assuming that you are certain it is definitely related to the hub. This will run you about $800 plus alignment. *estimates are just rough and assuming that you do the work yourself.*
