I just got my control arms done at a Albany Dodge, and I jacked my car up and took my wheels off to check it out. I found on the front driver side and passenger side ground wires are cut, I put a picture of the wire I am talking about. What are they for and could anything have went wrong from them being disconnected? (I swear I was smelling some sort of electrical burning as I was driving it)

Mine are cut and have been cut for a long time. nothing bad has happened although I have noticed my car shocks me whenever I get out of the car. Not sure if thats related though.

Grounding wires are connected on mine and im shocked 90% of the time getting out

Mine have been hanging since I bought the car, I took them off. And I get shocked all the time too! Mainly when it's cold and/or low humidity. It might be a stretch, but that could be why. What you do to avoid getting shocked is before you get out, grab the metal part of the door, and keep touching it until you're out. Then let go and you're safe! It might seem awkward at first, but I'm so used to it now that I don't even think about it. My girlfriend can't get the hang of it, so I always hear her get shocked from the opposite side of the car. But anyways, I imagine it's fine.

I try to grab the metal but it shocks me anyways. It's become a routine almost: Open door, step out, flick metal, ZAP, close door . I barely notice anymore but my girlfriend jumps everytime it happens to her.

You grab the metal before you touch the ground and it still shocks you? Wow. Would it be possible to measure that with a multimeter or something?

They are there to prevent build up of static electricity to prevent arcing in the wheel bearings. The arcing will destroy the bearings.

It was a huge probem on the early FWD cars.

It obviously isn't as bad these days, but It doesn't hurt to have them. I would take it back and make them replace those.
There was no reason to cut them, they just slip on at the access hole.

if they were intact before, they should be intact now.


when my car was fixed for a collision the place didn't hook up the ground for the gas fill, now that is one i want connected

Unless you know for a fact that they were on when you took it there, they were probably already off. The best way to tell would be to look at the "cut" ends. Mine were a little frayed, and the end's were rusty. I assume that means they just broke off on their own accord. If yours are a clean, shiny cut, you should take it back.

Next time bring it to Armory Dodge, everything I hear about albany dodge is bad, I never seem to hear complaints about Armory

mine are cut too.... well one is and the other is not there at all does anyone have the part # for them ?????
