ABS Light

Post by SlvrACR » Thu Jun 04, 2009 9:01 pm

Since I got the new RT4 the abs light has been on. The previous owner told me that he couldnt fix this. It orignially was a 01 RT and now has a SRT swap. What is the first thing I should be looking for. I think the plug just isnt correct

Maybe he didn't switch over the ABS brakes? Do the brakes lock up?

If the ABS works correctly, remove the light. :D

Could be a number of things. I would start with the abs sensors at the knuckles. Oh but first things first did u check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder? DId he swap the srt brakes??? If he did were they bled correctly? And Be sure to check all the lines for a leak. If u cant find it take it to the dealer and let them do a 1 hour diagnostic (like 100 or less) and at least they can tell u its this and if u feel u can fix it, fix it

Master cylinder is full, lines are bleed correctly and no leaks. There is no way Im taking it to the local dealers, most likely they wont even touch it and if they do they will rape me

I can't remember exactly but I think when c2k did his swap on his '01 R/T he mentioned that the ABS module was different. I believe one person said the SRT harness won't even plug into the '01 R/T ABS module. On my '02 it plugged right in with no problems. He may not have swapped it over... :-?

Should probably be able to search a Salvage Yard for an 02+ ABS module and swap that over. Afterwards though you may have to make a trip to the dealer so they can properly bleed the ABS module with the DRB.

Won't you need a SRT module and sensors?

Regardless I have a SRT ABS module and sensors that I'm not going to use. So if you are interested send me a PM.

I think the ABS module (electrical part) still needs reset with the DRB scan tool.

I think that's what Jason was getting at.

The joy of ABS.
