Tein Coilovers with edfc and sway bars

Post by Psydwynder » Sun Jun 07, 2009 2:36 am

I want to put the tein coilovers with pillowball mounts and edfc on my 2005 sxt. I would also like to put front and rear sway bars. My question is hotchkins a good choice and what size swaybars? My year model doesn't have both front and back... how do I add the missing one? Can't remember if its the front or back thats missing.
Yes it's a neon... No it's not an srt4... Oh and by the way I don't care if you like it...I love it!!!

Hotchkins is a good choice. you can use SRT-4 suspension components on neons, but how did you come to the decision of Tein coilovers?

I assume you're talking about the TEIN SS coilovers. I don't think anyone on 2gn has them (probably because they're $1500). I hope you get them, I want to hear some feedback on them.

As far as sway bars go, your car came with a front one stock. The coilovers will have tabs for the rear bar, so don't worry about that. Your stock struts do not however, so the sways will have to wait for the coilovers. I've heard nothing but good things about the Hotchkis bars.

Decisions on tein

Post by Psydwynder » Mon Jun 08, 2009 5:02 am

I decided on the teins because I use my car as a daily driver and had eibach sportline springs and it beat me to death(read POGO stick) The teins are expensive but they allow you to control dampening and ride hight from inside the car. Its really gonna make setting up corner wieghts for autocross and drag racing without having to do alot of work. So what size (mm) sway bars do I need. I would like to be able to induce a small amount of oversteer and get rid of most of the understeer.

EDFC cannot adjust ride height, only dampening. I recommend ordering custom spring rates if possible. Getting the rear rate close to the front will make for some off-throttle oversteer. You could just use a larger rear sway bar, but the overall balance will be close to stock unless you alter the rear rates.

I have them on my 2gn R/T. I really liked them last year when i put them on...this year i went with the BC coilovers for my 1gn ACR...and while the TEIN's still ride nice...i would sell them and get the BC's tomorrow if i had the extra cash to make up the difference. IMO, the BC's really are the better choice if you want the most bang for your buck.

^That's what I keep hearing. I too had my heart set on TEIN coilovers, but I'm keeping an open mind toward the BC's now due to the rave reviews from everyone who has them. For me it comes down to quality and performance; I'm willing to pay the money so long as I get the absolute best set available. Obviously saving money is pretty important these days too, so the BC's will always have that leg up over the competition.

Your right... can't adjust ride hight from the edfc. But the tein coilovers do have ride hight adjustment. Going to go with the teins and hotchkis sway bars. If I dont like em I'll just sell them or swap for some bc's. What size bars front/back would be a good starting point?

If you're going with the Hotchkis bars, you don't have size options, they come in a matched set. Rear bar is adjustable. I can't remember the exact size of each, I'm sure someone will chime in soon with specs though.
