pt swaybars

Post by anders-j » Mon Jun 22, 2009 4:44 pm

I'm thinking of getting some stock 2,4l pt cruiser sway bars front and back. but will the rear sway bar fit? and will it be an upgrade or are they just the same?

No, the front pt sway bar is 24 or 25mm so it is an upgrade from the our stock 21mm. The rear pt sway bar doesn't fit the neon, so most opt for the r/t or srt rear bar. You can get a rear sway bar online, although shipping to sweden might be a little pricey.

The rears are different.

It *might* be possible to adapt a 1st gen bar onto a 2nd gen, or vice-versa..... but you would have to fabricate a way, to adapt the respective end links from the other generation, to fit your application.

I don't know about the fronts, however.
They may be the same...... Hell, I have both 1st gens and 2nd gens, I should check and find out. :)

I doubt a 1g rear bar would be worth all the trouble. All that work for a tiny rear bar seems like a waste of time. Might as well get a beefy aftermarket bar you know will bolt up and work great. That is if you can't find the 17mm srt or 19mm r/t bar.

pt cruiser front sway bars ar 24mm same as the srt 4 front.

A pt cruiser convert. had a 26mm front.

As for the rear the pt ones dont fit.
Try to find an srt-4 ACR rear its 19mm

Since you have coilovers I would recommend getting a rear sway bar first. Personally, I would go with the Addco Rear sway bar combined with a 24mm PT front sway bar. That should give just enough oversteer to make for balanced handling, and be relatively cheap.
