glacial graphics traction bars
ok, who knows about this setup? i found some install pics, but just wondered if they are the same subframe and mounting as a 02 neon... i am going to a big oil pan and am kinda worried about clearence with the traction bars..... i want traction bars on my car... and for the price i found a set of used one, it may be worth getting them and just trying to get them to work on my car?? what do u guys think?
i am kinda worried about the suspension of my car when i start putting some big numbers to this car for just a sohc......

I would like to see that....dtjackten wrote:will post pics when i get to that point.
Are these supposed to work ?? ( Not asking about fitting..... I'm asking how much / what difference they will make for traction, once these are installed.)

Actual traction bars are normallly used on leaf springs to avoid "spring wrap." These things just bolt to the sway bar endlinks, looks like they're keeping the control arms from deflecting too much. A set of very hard urethane or spherical bearing rear lca bearings will have the same effect, but would also effect suspension geometry less than those bars and be lighter. FWIW I noticed quite the difference when I went from stock bushings to spherical bearings.

^ from what i have read that is correct, the traction bars are designed to come off the front radiator support (not the best design) i am going to be making some mods to the car so the rad suport does not bend...
i am non srt, so i am unaware of the mods i will have to do to make them fit anyway... but time will tell that...
hoping to have them in my hands by thanksgiving time. block will be pulled for the install so i should have some good pics for all of u..

They'll bolt up just fine, geometry is the same in that respect between srt and std. neon. Really though, you wouldn't find a set of them on my car, don't look the best IMO.

I ended up making my own kit to ensure I got what I want. IIRC Rage Tek? makes a set. Diablo's got a pair.

i am going prothane bushings, and solid motormounts, along with the traction bars.... i should see a difference, along with rear lca. with the hotchis swaybars i have on already, and eibach sportline springs i should have a "nice" setup, not the best for sure, but it should do what i am looking for...... maybe... lol

don't forget a transmission mount insert or solid tranny mount tho i am not sure them make a solid trans mount.
Otherwise that setup should be amazing! I have to think that the traction bars will really help on wheel hop and probably help support the control arms a bit more.
now that i think of it, I haven't touched my trailing arms or rear control arms in 60k, i think it may be time to look into replacing them.

lol, i am thinking about going with the mopar adjustable lcas for the rear, but idk yet, i am looking for a insert for the trans mount (or i may use the fill in with urathane method) but i have not found an accual mount like a agp or anything, just the motor, the srt is different so odviously i can not use that...
but yeah i am hoping this setup will work out good, we will see when i get the bars and start messing with things... the spherical bearing for the controlarms just seem to be alot of money... but never know, they may be in the far future plans... if i decide my suspension setup is not what i want.....

I know Big Woodie sells a set of srt traction bars. If i am correct Joe has a set on his black srt.
As for the tranny mount i think the 1st and 2nd gen tranny mounts are the same so you can use

no the trans mounts are not the same for first and 2gn or between srt4 and 2gns
00-05 atx are all the same
00-05 mtx are all the same
The only thing thats the same between 2gns mtx's and srts are the shape of the rubber in the trans mount thus the inserts fit both.
neongoodies.com has trans mounts for 2gn MTX setups.

sweet! thanks alot kevin, i will have to take into them... any idea on the mounts that are in the side of the frame rail? next to the timing cover? or do they really need a insert???? i want as less wheel hop but not a ton of vibration in the car either, due to it is a street car...

with all the power u are running i am sure u will be tearing your mounts up. The inserts will help prevent that. I think u can get a less stiff version of the motor mount inserts. In an earlier post u said u were going with solid motor mounts are u changing your mind???

i am going to be running agp motor mounts, but i do not see any solid motor mounts for our trans/frame rail mount, that is why i am looking into the inserts,(but only for the trans/frame rail) i want as little wheel hop out of my car as posible, i have hurd good things about the agp mounts, and i like the look as well (price is good to!) but the trany and frame rail mount i am concerned with

ok, as several have requested.... here are some pics of the glacier graphics traction bars for srts, on a 2gn non srt (02 se to be exact)
the bars are about 1 to 1.5 inches longer for an srt.... this i am not sure why or how.... but they r.... it is accually the EXACT amount of the bolt spacing in the radiator support.... to accomplist them to work... i simply moved the swaybar link bars to the inter bolt... drilling a second set of holes in the bracket for the radiator support.... making them a great fit.... here is a few pics mounted up....
all these pics were taken during the moch up stage....

alittle low hanging as i was told....

i can not complain though, wayne ended up getting these for 75 dollars, i did end up buying new hardware for the mounting of them... but all in all a decent install...

It looks like you have them set up to bolt into some square tubing underneath your radiator core support.dtjackten wrote:^ from what i have read that is correct, the traction bars are designed to come off the front radiator support (not the best design) i am going to be making some mods to the car so the rad suport does not bend...
