swapping the '04 srt into the '00 neon.
along with the motor and trans, i have the front subframe and a-arms. no knuckles though. can i use my '00 knuckles with the '04 srt axles? i know the differences in them are that the srt's had different brake mounting and the rack is shorter so the knuckles are different. just wasn't sure if there was a difference in the spline or if srt axles arfe longer/shorter than n/a neons.

so with '04 srt-4 sub-frame, '04 srt-4 a-arms, '00 neon steering rack, '00 neon knuckles.. can i use the srt-4 axles? or do i have to switch to srt-4 knuckles and steering rack?

i would like to switch to them eventually to run the srt-4 brakes, but for now, i just need to get the car going, so if this will work, i will run it for a few months

yes you can. the splines are the same. But i would suggest doing a complete SRT brake swap to handle the additional power from the SRT powerplant...

to do that you'll need:

Knuckles (you can reuse your hubs, they're the same....)
Calipers
Rotors
Pads
Steering Rack (its shorter than your neon rack, you wont get a good alignment without it)
Caliper mounting brackets

You dont HAVE to do the rear, but why not?

If you've got the money to do it right, get all new parts.....I did... It costs more, but its new parts...much longer life.

You dont have to change contorl arms since they're the same as neon control arms with just an extra piece of metal welded on where the endlinks go...otherwise identicle...

Just save yourself some money and get new period. I got used and it ended up costing me almost 3X as much as I spent extra money trying to find the problem.

Yeah, I remember that...

New parts always may cost more in the beginning, but will save you money down the road because those are parts you WONT be replacing again...

well i have the steering rack still on the srt-4 sub-frame but i dont have the knuckles nor do i have any money left to buy some. i will be doing a big brake setup on it when i get the money i know the limits of the neon brakes, i wont push them. lol i just needed to make sure my setup will work for a few months till i get money for the knuckles. i have to do the swap at work and i cant keep it there for more than a weekend so i had to make sure i can drive the car home. (if the skim key is not an issue.)

word. You should be fine on the regular brakes as long as you don't drive too spiritedly. When you decide you want to start going that route is when you need to upgrade all that shit.
