If your talking the fronts on the chassis I broke three of four. I took a small drill bit and drilled out the centers then an easy out. Heat optional.

ha yeah i've broken a few myself, its quite common for those damn bolts. I drilled them out, retapped the hole, and bought some new ones from the dealer. problem solved

Oh boy, which ones? I had to deal with this when I did suspension upgrades. It's not fun.

I broke all four on the front , so I changed out the subframe, I have one broken in the rear still,

Drill it out , then heat it, don't drill after it been heated

Seems like overkill doesnt it? ^^

the 4 bolts that hold the brackets for the front swaybar. I guess a drill and easyouts are gonna be my night tonight.

this is really the most logical procedure to start with. If you have a center punch I would use that to make your drilling of the hole easier and more precise so as to not damage any threads.

yeah you'll have to use easy outs....hopefully that'llwork...

i snapped all 4 rear bolts when i installed my hotchkis bars...............it was a bad time to say the least..........we had to cut the subframe, bend out open, then heat the shit out of the bolts and thread them the rest of the way through........then we bent the subframe back up and welded it back in place............it's not pretty.

yeah, it really really sucks...

what i'm going to do is start removing bolts, and coating them all with either axle grease or lithium grease to keep them from rusting out if possible...........ESPECIALLY the main verticle control arm/k-member bolts...i dread the idea of those ever breaking!

I figure drilling then replacing is the easiest and most practical isnt it?

anti-sieze compound will help prevent that.. the real issue is how long those bolts are. The extra 1.5 inches of thread hanging into the front crossmember rusts like crazy, and then prevents it from being threaded out.

Same happened here. I brok two in the front. I tried to drill and retap them out and it didnt work on one. So I drilled right through and bolted it solidly. Its in my progress log.

I asked my dad about this and he said he never once had these break for him. I'm sure hoping that mine don't snap when I replace my swaybars.

well if you took it real easy with them and squirted a lot of pb blast they do come out. I was kind of in a hurry when I broke the 2. I got the other two out when I took my time with em.

air tools and penetrating oil are best. I hate doing things by hand because the uneven torque always snaps things. With air it will either come out or it won't. It rarely snaps.

Yeah man air ain't gonna help you here, seriously I looked at one of them funny and it snapped itself. Chances are if you live where there is rain or snow they are gonna break. I just went ahead and got new ones before starting and soaked them in never seize.

I believe one exists. If you get under the car and look(just don't make eye contact with those bolts) it's a no brainer. Drilling a hole in what you have left allows you to spray pb blaster in there and let's you use an easy out. I also went back with the proper bit from a tap and dye and cleaned the thread with pb blaster.

You think this is bad, wait till you have to do the control arm bushings. The sways are like a nice pair of tits compared to the control arm bushings. I got incredibly lucky and started spraying wd40 on the vertical bushing bolts like a year in advance(literally) then again a week before the install and then again the day of. When they came out in one piece I got a lil emotional. Just think about doing the control arms since the sway is already broke and dropped your like halfway there then put the sway back on.
