is the suspension from a 1st gen interchangable with a 2nd gen? will the rear suspension just swap right over? any ride height change?
did tokico make the stock 2nd gen struts? anyone know what company sold blue struts for the 1st gen?

I'm pretty sure it'll swap over, the springs will for sure and if you just put springs in from any 1gn in a 2gn it'll be LOW.
Yes Tokico makes the OEM struts. It is stamped right on them.

Ok, not to sound like a dick but the discussion on 1st gen springs on a 2gn has been covered time and time again. Search function is your friend.
But to answer your question the 1st gen springs are shorter and will lower a 2gn. However, they ride like shit, blow out struts, and are really no better then E-bay faux "coilovers" as many people have stated. Just spend the $200 on the Eibach pro kit. Then you will get spring rates that are designed for your car. Its an amazing concept I know.

Upper strut mounting are also different. I believe the clevis is a little different, but workable.

The struts are also more narrow (where they attach to the knuckles) on the 1st gen.

While stretching the clevis can be good on some things, the parts that hold your car up prolly not so much.
I would think adding stress to the sheet metal on the strut where it attaches to the knuckle, may lead to the metal cracking.
