Problem with Megan coils

Post by Neon4Life » Fri Apr 23, 2010 10:16 am

so how the hell do i tell if i got a bad coil ?

the other day when i arrived to class i noticed i was eating tire because my right side was hitting the fender. Well as soon as i came home that day i adjusted it to be a little bit higher..or even with the left side wich is fine. that was wednesday.I just now got home and noticed that the same side i had raised is back down again. i only got 1 finger gap on the side that is hitting and my other side is a 2 finger gap but it doesnt hit.

im also having the same problem with my left rear. i adjusted it last week and i just noticed that the same situation i have up front is happening in the rear.

what the hell is going on.

i check to see if the lock rings are on tight and they are. i measured everything 5 times.

someone give me ideas as to how to tell if they are bad..

im going to check them again in a few and adjust it again before it rains..so any help appreciated.

well look at the adjustment rings are they moving each time the car keeps settling down? mark the threads with something so you can see if they're moving or not.

^^ umm I don't think tha would be a good idea.

Tho what would I use to mark it. I need something resistance against road crap. I'm thinking that its unscrewing it self as I turn and then in return its lowering itself.

Maybe its trying to tell me to go lower.lmfao.

how old are the coils? Because they do settle if they are brand new. I noticed mine dropped about 1/2" until they were "broken in".

Are there set screws you are supposed to tighten that hold then lock rings in place? I say this because thats how my dirtbike works. You need to tighten the set screws in the lock ring once you adjust it, or it will vibrate it way back down over bumps.

i had a similar issue with my bc's, but it was the spring settling. the one rear spring settled a good inch. and i did have pre-load dialed into them. Just keep a close eye on it and make sure the lock rings are tight. i always kept a jack and the adjusting wrenches with me.
Yup it definately needs to go lower. If its not scrapeing constantly why you are driving then its not low enough bro.
What wheel/tire combo do you have? I haven't noticed any rubbing with my 16x7 and 225s.
