Hello All, I need to replace the pads and rotors on the rear disc brakes on my 2001 RT. I am looking to save a few bucks and do it myself. I was wondering if anyone had a link to or had posted previously some good step by step instructions to do the job, hopefully with pictures

Do you know how to do front brakes? Should be the same thing, except (IIRC) you need a special tool to push the piston back into its bore.

Well, this would be my first brake job of any kind. I guess any sort of instruction on disc brakes for 2gn Neons should work right?

Ahhh OK. In that case, I'll say make sure you have someone with you who has done it before to double check your work. It's not a difficult process, but brakes are nothing to joke around with, as they're the only thing that really stops you...

But if you look in the How-To sections, there's a thread there about front brakes on a non-SRT Neon that should give you all the information you need.

as sean has already said, its the same as front brakes, you just need a 10 mm socket, and a c-clamp to compress the caliper piston, to do the job.

Well, I hate to be difficult but I reviewed the how-to's and could not find a Non-SRT disc brake set of instructions. I was able to find instructions on how to bleed the braking system which will be good but still looking for a good step by step for rear disc pad and rotor replacement.

Any help is appreciated.

There isn't a rear specific one. The one you are looking for is right on the front page of the HT Chassis section, perhaps you missed it?

Well guys, I got it done. Replaced the rear discs and rotors with replacements from Autozone. Wasn't really all that bad once I figured out the e-brake.

Speaking of the e-brake, I tightened it up a bit but when I set the e-brake in the car a pull it up all the way till it stops and it still does not hold as well as I'd like(I have a steep driveway). Do I need to tighten up the e-brake drum some more or is there a wire connected to the e-brake handle I need to adjust?
