If you're a member on SRTForums do a search and read a bit....surmise your own opinion from what is posted there, on mazda forums and other forums. After you go through everything you'll find that you will go from  to .

just went and read through some of it, and he sounds like a p.o.s guy.
seems as though one of his products has caused somebody's srt to burn to the ground.
He did sell the company though, so i wonder if the arms are made by "john" or the new "pt performance"?

He has gone by two different company names since "PTP". DFDD and HPFPUpgrade.com. Most of people's gripes were subpar quality, I have my own gripes that involve tuning but this isn't the thread for that.

I just wanted you to know that your questions may not get answered

looked over all the bolts today and finally figured out what was causing the noise

Image

If you look at the arrow on the right( rod end) since it moves around on the ball joint or whatever its called, it smacks off the car ( arrow on the left.)

Yeah those threads are epic as were his knock thresholds. :tardbang: The PTP threads with Duster are especially entertaining.

Regarding PTP, even a clock is right two times a day.

Glad you got it figured out. I suppose you could space out that hiem joint *A LITTLE* to give it room to move. Though im not sure of the stress on that bolt. How does it compare with the OE ARM?

If in doubt, I'd consult a M.E.

thought about spacing it out, but it would take a damn good amount of spacing to achieve that.

It uses oversized 1/2" grade 8 bolts.

what do you mean by compare? like handling wise?

I was meaning the load center of the OE arm on that bolt. That should give you a general refference of how far away from the frame that bolt will handle the loading.

I was under the impression that your issue was the hiem joint end turning and contacting the LCA mount

if you look at the picture above, i put two arrows on where the two make contact.

and i have no idea how to check the load lol

eh then i dont get it. Those two arrows look to be a few inches apart. One on the heim joint and the other on the mount point of the rear sub-frame, and a whole lotta nothing in between. whatever it doesn't matter if i get where the impact is...

My point is that the OE LCA end is fairly wide, meaning entire shear load of that LCA is transmitted on that bolt over 1.5" or so? If you need more LCA to frame clearance you could IMHO done carefully you'd be reasonably safe to space your joint out half that same distance, maybe a touch more.

I'm sure I know exactly what noise you are talking about. Back about 1 1/2 years ago I bought the DCR rear control arms brand new, I installed them just the way they said too and almost immediately I had this rattle in the back. I could kick the tire on the ground and hear this rattle. I later got a good deal on Mopar Performance rear control and installed those and sure enough no more rattle. I think the noise comes from the joints since DCR does sell spacers with their kits. Like danteneon said its just the sound of performance.
