spring springs springs

so i decited to lower it.... now modern says
these are a direct fir ( ya i know )

will they blow my struts or should i replace them.

Are they stock struts? If so, it's my understanding it's only a matter of time.

Any aftermarket struts should be fine.

I have had this issue, i bought tein springs for my first 2gn and blew out the stock struts after a little while. I decided to switch over to some Eibach Pro-kit springs and upgrade to KYB GR2 struts and havn't had a problem yet. I'm looking into getting some coilovers soon.

Petty much the stock struts can't handel the lowering springs very well.

Both my front Eibach springs broke, one on the top coil, and one on the bottom coil. The tires were both at the fender lip if not a bit into it. The Tokico HP Blues didn't seem to be affected at all. Like I said, better shocks than the springs.

Very interesting when I hear about how bad the stock struts are. Maybe I just baby the car when I drive over rough roads, but I've had my Eibach Sportlines for about 2.5 years now on stock struts and I haven't had any issues.
Now that I said something.... *knocks on wooden table*

If you're going to lower more than 3/4", you will lose what little travel we have in our stock struts, causing them to bottom constantly and blow.
Any higher rate spring, or 1+" of lowering should have a good set of aftermarket performance struts added for best results.

Oh I agree that having better struts will help, and help with the ride as well. But I was just stating that I've had my springs on stock struts for so long with no blown struts. I plan on either saving for coilovers or going with the same Eibach Sportline setup, but with Tokico struts next time.
