04 neon sxt. It's about time for new shocks/struts. Car has 138k miles and they're never been changed. Looking for better handling as well. I would like to get some recommendations on what the best ones are in the price range i'm looking to spend. Modern performance is too pricey. I'm sure they have good quality but that's above my range.

Probably be easier to help if you give us a price range you want to stay in.

Well, I was hoping under 400.

Unless you buy them used you probably can't get struts and springs for that. You're probably looking closer to 500 if you can replace the struts/springs yourself.

First one, no.
Second link STAY AWAY!!!!!! That style is horrible, it's a fake coilover and are awful. If you see anything else like that (unless it's a whole coilover assembly) just keep clicking.

Okay so i'm sticking with the Tokico Blue struts. 60 bucks for shipping though? Grrr...
Any well renowned performance springs for around 150 shipped?

You could pick this setup used and be OK for struts and springs.

Struts/shocks is generic for the ad. Neons use struts not shocks, and shocks do not = springs, so no... Tokcio blues won't lower your car.
DropZone springs are ebay garbage... stay away.
Those coilover sleeves are ebay garbage... stay away.
Mod the car properly or for the love of God leave it alone... If you can't afford to do it properly... leave it alone. half ass parts make for half ass results.

I just didn't know anything about the variety. That's why I asked before I considered buying. 400 was what I was thinking I would spend on everything. It wasn't the maximum, it was hopeful. I asked opinions so that I
wouldn't buy half-ass parts

How much of a drop would I get with the Tokico Blues and the modern performance springs? I'm about to just order them if this guy doesn't get back to me. Besides the MP springs, are there any other competitors for best for the money?

Bump. About to purchase. One more question. If I buy the tokico blues and the MP lowering springs will that work with my request for lowered body and improved handling?

Going lower will help the handling due to the lower center of gravity, and the springs due to the stiffer rate to keep it from bottoming. In short, yes it will handle better.
You should also get shorter end links for the rear sway bar. Can't go shorter on the front.
If you don't have a rear sway, then I would try to find a used SRT set, and replace the front and rear. The front bar will firm up the ride even more, just so you know.

Sweet. Just purchased the Tokico blues and some Megan lowering springs. I live in FL, so even though it drops 2'' I'm pretty confident I won't bottom out.
The sway bars are deff. next on the list though. I'm figuring that since I can't do much to the engine with my lacking knowledge of them, I might as well deck out the chassis.

He has an '04 sxt bill, so no rear sway bar.

I figured that, but that assumes a previous owner hadn't done anything to it.

Assuming they did would already be assuming they would have upgraded the struts then since there are no provisions to add sways!

They could have used my homebuilt sway brackets though.

It is assumed that sway brackets were NOT used in this assumption though!

Well, when you make assumptions you make an ASS out of U and mption!
