i know similar questions have been asked and i tried to look using the search but i dont have the time to look through multiple pages if anyone has the answer im lookin for would be appriciated thanks!

no clue on if they will even fit/work, but assuming the spindles are interchangeable, will the top of the coilover fit properly on a 2gn at all as well?

rear knuckles are the same thickness, fronts are not.
swapping to a 1gn front setup will solve this issue, or get your knuckles milled down to fit.
if you use the 1gn stuff, you have to change the axles as well because of the different hubs.
top hats are different as well, you will need to get a set of 2gn ones for the coils or just use your stock 2gn ones.
p.s. it's going to be very low...

I don't think so but I could be wrong.

so, picked up 03 bearings, not the same diameter, i was told 00 bearings would fit? but wouldnt 00 bearings be the same as 03?? anyone else help me on this situation?
the guy on here running the sawblades on his neon is using 1gn knuckles and 2gn bearings and hubs... so its gotta be possible

I replaced mine on a 2000 and thought they'd be the same as a 1g but I was wrong so I'm guessing 2000-2005 bearings are the same. The hub assembly might be different though. Again, I could be wrong.

well i just went and double checked and stupid ass me, i measured the diameter from the rear lip that holds the bearing in from falling through the backside... i think they may be the same..

they should be the same, but get new bearings, they are one time use only. the hubs can be re used if not torn up.

yep, picked up the bearings did a little mmore research online, found out they are both 76mm O.D. so that works:) i will just be using the hubs from my 2gn now, ill make sure the shop gets em out cleanly

While the diameter is the same, the width is different. Mid year 2002-2005 uses a 39mm wide bearing. The 2000-mid year 2002 uses a 33mm wide bearing. The first gen may even be more narrow than 33mm.

so will this affect how my hub sits in the spindle? is this a big factor? should i exchange for a 2000-2002 bearing?
i beleive when my buddy got the store to put a hold on the bearings they said there was no different bearing from 2000-05

I have more info...
The difference in the 1st gen hub and the 2nd gen is the inner diameter of the bearing/hub diameter.
The 1st gen bearing ID is 1.5748"
The 2nd gen bearing ID is 1.6633
The width and OD is the same for 5 lug 1st gen hubs as 2000-2001 2nd gens. 2003-2005 will be too wide.
So what this means...if you use a 1st gen knuckle, you will need a 2000-2001 sized hub and bearing. The bearing needs to measure 1.6533" wide (33mm).

okay, so i can go back and swap the bearings out, will my current 05 hub work with the 00-01 bearing?
Posted: Fri May 27, 2011 12:12 pm
by Danteneon
No. You will need to use the narrower 00-01 hub as well.

not a problem, i have been looking around online at different bearings fs and some seem to be 33mm listed for an 03-05 and some are 39mm.... im curious to know what mine are for the width, once im home ill measure them up and go from there... worse comes to worse, ill have to go exchange the bearings for the 33mm ones and have them put into the knuckle tomorrow. instead of tonight

All 03-05 bearings are 39mm wide including the SRT.

well, so i have located some 01 hubs... unfortunately i cant get it until monday the JY has to give me the whole spindle so now i will have 2 2gn knuckles, one complete and one without hub and bearing.. not i have to take back the 03 bearings i have and exchange them for 00-01 bearings and make sure they are 33mm....
well i guess its all part of the learning experience right

I order parts from rockauto.com
I just bought two rear hub assemblies w/bearings for my 2000 at $25 each brand new.

I'd recommend raising the coils as far as you can. If not they will probably be so low that the car will literally be scraping the ground. What coilovers are they?

oh i know ill have to have them "high" they are the Dropzone N1 full coilovers not the sleeves.. picked them up for $300 BNIB off dylan00blue after he totaled his neon and bought a VW
