What to buy with Tokico blues

Post by Alex Kurdian » Sun Jan 29, 2012 11:09 pm

Hi All
In the near future I’m going to be ordering Tokico Blues for my neon
I already have lowering springs and I just bought new OEM bump stops in case my old ones are trash...
Do I need to buy anything else for the swap and will the stock bump stops need some sort of trimming etc? ie any bushings or ??? any help would be greatly appreciated...

I'm also pretty sure my top hats are ok...car seems to be driving ok...
Thanx guys
I drove My Neon till it "SOLD" And then bought a Mazda 3 Skyactiv

you might want to properly check your tophats, my car seemed fine but when i took my front suspension apart the tophats were trashed, little balls everywhere from the bearing splitting open

Thanx mate but what do you mean by bearings? I didn't know top hats needed bearings?

This is what you'll see when you get it removed from the car.

there is 2 parts on top of the spring, firstly is the 'isolator' and on top of that is the mount (shown rusty)

dont forget you will need to bodge together a tool like this to get that nut off (also soak in WD first - will be stiff)

Old and new tophat comparison (see trashed bearing and loose balls)

well the guy who fitted my lowering springs (onto oem shocks) cut the bump stop in half but after a while i replaced them with new ones coz it was making some nasty noises over bumps and its better now.

so i wouldn't recommend cutting them but for Tokicos that may be different
