I plan on lowering my car within the next few weeks and cant decide what the best route to go is. I can get coilovers for $700 or springs for $200. But my car has about 130,000 miles on it and im afraid ill have to replace the struts soon anyways, so leaning towards the coils.

I also have a creaking noise when i brake and accelerate (at >20 mph). I imagine those are just bushings going bad. Is that a good assumption?

It may be the lower ball joint, they usually make creaking noises. I think the bushings cause more of a clunking noise when they go bad. Might even be the wheel bearing, they can make some strange noises.

I get a creaking noise from the rear when I like get out of the car (04 neon se 113K). i.e take my butt of the driver seat :) and the car raises up a bit.

Dunno if it's the strut or some bushing or the rear drum brakes.
