So yeah, I got lazy and had to have my ball joints done and tie rods replaced asap so I had a mechanic do it that I haven't used before.

COST ME $800 for 2 tie rods and 2 ball joints. Looked at the reciept and they used moogs for both parts as i requested but they charged me over $240 in parts. The list price on rockauto is $107 for the same parts (professional grade). Labor was $400 which i could understand if they spent 5-6hrs on it. labor rates are not cheap in CT. Note to self get it alligned at the shop and do the bitch work yourself or get a friend to help. :banghead:

lol haven't modded the EVO yet so its not a money pit yet. Its actually brought down my car insurance since I added it :P.
I do have the right to rant cuz I am pissed at my lazyness. Didn't want to suck it up and do this in the cold snow. Parts would have been about $100 in total plus $70 dollars for the alignment.

Well next time you are feeling lazy, supply the parts yourself.

But know this: They are going to up the labor cost to make up fro some of the lost parts revenue.

And always get a total cost estimate before letting them loose with your car.

This is exactly why I freeze my ass off when necessary. A frozen ass is better than a lubed one.

hence why i refuse to ever take my car to a repair shop. id rather freeze my ass of in my garage than pay those assholes 10x more than the parts are worth.

I have to drive 30 some miles to work in a garage, so most times I just freeze out in the parking lot, wind/rain/snow, whatever, shit has to be fixed, or I don't get to work...

Man up, Bitches

This is why I am a mechanic.

I don't have to charge for labor because I'm doing it myself at work

I made friends with one of the local shops. We did the control arms in my SXT.I supplied the parts and it took us 5 hours, of which only 2 1/2 were actually working on the car and I paid him $40... in beer.

In the winter, I send all my used oil over there so he can keep the heat on.

All depends on how you treat them. Take of them and they take care of you
