Need to fix the stock ride heights!

Post by timk225 » Mon Mar 18, 2013 12:33 am

I just picked up a 5 SXT Neon (that's 2005), and it's a nice car for daily driving.

But one thing I don't like is the "ass in the air" stock ride height.

I want to lower the rear suspension to level it out and possibly even RAISE the front end maybe 1/4" to 1/2".

I don't give a rat's ass about spring rates, firm stiff suspension, better cornering, or any of that rice boy racer BS. I just want to level the car out front to rear, and NOT make the suspension stiffer. My '89 Turbo Spirit ES rides like a luxury cruiser compared to the go-kart handing of even a stock Neon SXT.

I was thinking of those spring expander / compressor things that are in auto parts stores. Seems like a cheap way to do it, but it'd work. Any ideas?

very interesting never heard of someone not want to improve their handling.... but if you just want to raise the font and not change the stiffness i would say get some SRT springs for just the front they should raise it about a quarter inch..

or ya you can use the garbage that clamps the springs together for lowering but that will make for a terrible ride and if you are already complaining about the ride you would probably hate those... those are supposed to be used to assemble the spring/strut and some idiot decided to use it to lower his pos.....

Says the guy who's concerned with his ride height versus the usability of the suspension. Just sayin'. *Just bought new springs for better handling*
