Question about purchasing coilovers?
Looking for some coilovers for my 2000 dodge neon and was wondering if anybody knew where I should get them from that are the cheapest on prices?
Don't want to spend a $1,000 for them. lol
Any help would be appreciated.

A decent coilover is going to cost closer to 1000 than 200. Buy once cry once.windgraphics wrote:Looking for some coilovers for my 2000 dodge neon and was wondering if anybody knew where I should get them from that are the cheapest on prices?

Raceland has been okay, better than struts and springs, not as good as a real coilover.jrumann59 wrote:A decent coilover is going to cost closer to 1000 than 200. remember with racelands u need to use stock strut mounts, and if you haven't replaced ur mounts on ur 2000 anytime recently, ur going to want to do that! if ur not looking to go to the track and just want to b able to raise and lower ur car for looks, racelands r ur answer. they give a nice drop imo and have heard, from people that actually own them, that they have a decent ride and have been holding up good so far

I still stand by my comment, a decent strut and spring setup will cost about $600ish maybe a little more after all the hardware is bought. A decent Coilover is going to cost the same. If all you are doing for is appearance NEVER plan to race or drive aggressively go cheap. Again buy once cry once. I have been in the community long enough to see that many that go for appearance end up tweaking thin there suspension so many times that if they would have waited and saved money they would have what they wanted the 1st time around.[/u][/i]NyNeon0813 wrote:remember with racelands u need to use stock strut mounts, and if you haven't replaced ur mounts on ur 2000 anytime recently, ur going to want to do that! if ur not looking to go to the track and just want to b able to raise and lower ur car for looks, racelands r ur answer. they give a nice drop imo and have heard, from people that actually own them, that they have a decent ride and have been holding up good so far

Not looking to do any racing. Just purchased a 2002 stock r/t front bumper with a spoon lip, srt4 rear bumper, and getting some srt4 side skirts. I have lowering springs on it now, 1.5" front and rear. Wanting to lower it as much as I can. I guess there's many words for it slammed, hellaflush, stance. of course still be able to drive it. LOL
Racelands will get decently low, but if you want it to be really slammed you will need a better setup than racelands. BC coilovers will go lower with custom springs.
Here's someone with pics of their car on racelands.

My K-Sports get the 1st gen lower than a vette on their stock spring. My Personal opinion I have not found a place in the tristate area where that would be practical to be that low. Hell I raised my car because I hated rubbing my air dam on uneven roads.INVUJerry wrote:Racelands will get decently low, but if you want it to be really slammed you will need a better setup than racelands. I know a couple locals that have them. For the money they seem decent for a daily driver. With the springs they come with, they do not go as low as my BC's (compared the other day). I'm told the ride quality is pretty good.
My concern is how long they last. I have roughly 50,000 miles on my BC's and they're still holding up. I run them low, and have the dampening up all the time.
I paid $65 more than a new set of racelands for my BC's last year (used).
If you're interested in "stancing" you should not go with racelands. You can't run a wide rim without really low offset because it rubs on the locking rings, the springs are not stiff enough to have them just sit over/on the tire, and they don't go low enough (unless you plan on stancing 19's).
FAC3L3SS is running them with some other kind of spring and rear camber plates, he should chime in to clarify.

I think Ryan and Adam might have modded/used these for the top mounts.

I recall there being some discussion about using them, it is where I got the links from.
But not 100% on who it was. But it might be a better option than using the stock upper mounts. A lot of coil overs do not come with the upper mounts...

It was me/us, yes. it's not a project for the faint of heart or those who don't want to do some engineering of their own. I would not recommend going that route to the average joe and certainly not a noob. that said, we did make them work and with the helper springs yanked the racelands were NOT very low... in the rear anyway. and with the softer springs (had blown KW coils before) the front rubbed at the same height it was at before. So at this point the only thing raceland about them are the dampers. the rears have 2" shorter QA1 springs, and the fronts are getting swapped out for the KW springs.occasional demons wrote:I think Ryan and Adam might have modded/used these for the top mounts.

As Ryan said. I bought stiffer / shorter springs for the rear, and the KW springs are stiffer and shorter so those got swapped into the fronts as well. Plus 4 camber plates, some ingenuity, and battling with redrilling the car, I should have just bought BCs or Megans. The Racelands basically become threaded shock bodies. The rest is frankensteined.
