BRAKES?!?!?!? ARGGHH!

Alright.... in case yall don't know me....

I'm in the military. I'm stationed in Germany. I'm 27... I work on tanks..... I enjoy long walks on the beach yada yada....

Anyway..... I've had my car since August and been driving the bejesus outta it. I've had a lot of doctors appointments (18 to be exact) that are 400 miles round trip to go to them. So now the car has 14500 miles on it. Well... the rear brakes have been making a funny sound for a long time. I've taken it to the dealer on 2 occasions to be looked at. They kinda blow me off. I haven't been to the dealer for a while until my clutch pedal started making a binding noise as if the cable were corroded inside of its housing.... so I went to go ask about my rear brakes and the clutch. Also I've had some pulsating issues with the fronts as its not uncommon to be on the Autobahn cruising at 110mph and some idiot slides over from the slow lane and cuts you down to 50mph. So I figured I'd have them check it out.

Much to my dismay.... brakes are only covered to 12,000 miles or 12 months. I'm LIVID to say the least.... especially since I've been in for the rears on 2 other occasions. So.... I'm gonna suck it up as a loss and upgrade at the same time.... But where do I turn? I looked on MPX for rotors pads and shoes. I found the rotors and pads. Looking at the Slotted and dimpled rotors at 89.99 each and Hawk HP pads..... but I'll be using the hell out of them. I don't want a lot of brake dust. What are my alternatives? I'm happy with the stockers as there is NNNNNOOOOOOOOO dust that comes off of them. If there is... its so little that I don't really notice it. But for 230 for the front setup that doesn't seem too bad.

Now for the rears.... I've got drums. I'm gonna have drums. I'm too lazy to swap to discs.... along with the fact that I don't have the $$$ at the moment to do so. So where do I turn for upgraded shoes? Is there an option or am I stuck with the stock setup unless I change out to discs?

Check out Ebay. ;)

I got my Rotors from an Ebay store.. awesome quality and performance.. Only spent 120$ for Fronts and Rears. Then went to Tirerack.com and pick up Hawk HP Plus Pads for 70$ front and 60$ Rears.. and I've never been happier with a set of brakes.

My only worry is brake dust and warping of the rotors. I mean I get ON the brakes at times. So much that I have to constantly check my drawers to make sure I haven't soiled them. It gets REALLY hairy on the autobahn when an idiot thinks he's going fast enough to go around someone and pulls out in front of you.... you've only got 200 meters to slow from 100+ mph to 50 mph. I can't compromise on brakes.

Well.... I ordered the Power Slot 2's from Modern and some Hawk pads.... we'll see if this fixes my warped fronts. The guy on the phone was honest and told me that these weren't designed for what I'll be putting them through. He couldn't offer me anything for 100mph+ braking :( Sucks for me.

I have SP performance drilled and slotted rotors and hawk hps brake pads. I lost 35 feet in braking distance compared to stock. I have only had them on since january, and I dont drive my car hard, so I couldnt tell you how they take rough handling. I just know it stops alot quicker, and they dont have as much dust as Ive heard they do.

I'm still waiting for Modern to bill my card... but I put the order in on Thurs for rotors. While I was at it I picked up a UDP from them :D Hopefully I will have some improvement. Actually.... I don't even care about improvement.... I just want the rotors to last more than 10k miles. My stockers went to shit right around there. Now every hard brake I do rattles me to death. I've got a solid pulse in the brakes constantly. I can deal with some dust as long as the things don't warp.

Being over here its not like I can run out and just grab parts at the local Autozone. I have to go to the dealer.... OR I could order at Autozone online.... then I get crap made in Mexico parts. I could order online from the dealer, but the price I pay for the rotors and then shipping is about what I'll pay for these PS2's. So.... we'll see how they turn out. I'll post up a review once I get em.
