With that mileage and being a STOCK CE I could see it getting around $20-$30k.

I agree. I'm so glad that I already have an SRT though.

Re: The Official eBay, Craigslist, etc Links Thread for Cars
Um, yeah....The garage was (is) dark, preventing rot of the tires, which all are original, with original factory (Belvedere, IL) air in them.
I seriously doubt the tires have not lost any air pressure over the course of 17 years. Even in the dark, I wouldn't trust 17 year old tires any further than I could throw them.
60 year old tires, I would trust more, they made them much better back then.
After putting 4 new tires on it.I would drive the shit out of that car.
I had a set of tires in storage at our old residence. They were inflated to 32 psi. I went to pull them out after 5 years, and all of them had huge bulges in the tread, and didn't have any air pressure left. I assume it escaped out the stretched areas. They were probably 10 or 11 years old by then. All Goodyear brand tires. They were in the dark too.
You might get lucky, but I wouldn't take then over 35 mph. Even then, they could do some nice fender mods slapping around.

Just like the OEM spare for my car. Never used but worthless now due to it's age.

Re: The Official eBay, Craigslist, etc Links Thread for Cars
It might actually get you the 50 miles they are technically worth. They are built differently than normal tires. (and priced accordingly, if you ever had to buy one new, you would know :/) The car has to perform with 3 oem and one space saver as well as it does with 4 oem tires in an emergency situation.
I have seen older videos on this, where they have a performance car doing maneuvers with a space saver, and it actually did pretty well.
I would say if you kept it in common sense parameters in line what is printed on the tire, it would get you at least off, say the turnpike - as an example, to where a tow truck would take care of you if you don't have AAA.
Those are one thing I have used, that are older, and not had a problem. Regular tires, I had one blow out just sitting, filling my car at a gas station. Thankfully it was a front tire, and not the one I was standing next to. My heart skipped a beat or two as it was, along with the other people pumping gas.
They are probably seriously under rated. How many other tires do you see rated for 50 MPH/50 miles get abused far beyond that, and still hold together?
I can't count how many idiots I see passing me at 75 mph on the highway with a donut on the car, and they are mostly older poorly maintained beaters for the most part. You know those things are old.
I would honestly trust four 17 year old space savers to get me 100 miles home, over four 17 YO factory installed regular tires. Granted it wouldn't be a spirited drive!

I dunno... This is why I replaced my compact spare with a full-size wheel and tire several years back (after you gave me the part number for the wheel and BRR gave me the part number for the thingy that holds the wheel in place- I forget what that is called). [/off-topic]

That's a super clean car. I never liked yellow, though.

My '02 SXT was Solar Yellow- best paint job of any Neon I've owned. This particular car does have some rarity- very nice.

Re: The Official eBay, Craigslist, etc Links Thread for Cars
That is true. The yellow does seem to hold up better than the other colors of the era. Especially red. Flame red always seems to peel.

Re: The Official eBay, Craigslist, etc Links Thread for Cars
Well, I didn't have the car long enough to see if the paint lasted longer than other colors- an illegal alien totaled it less than a year after I bought it.
The quality of the paint is another matter- Belvidere really did a good job with the Solar Yellow 2002... much better than the '04 Electric Blue SXT I had. My Brilliant Blue 1995 Highline also had a good paint job. My SRT (unfortunately) had some environmental damage to the clear coat when I took delivery which is why I was having Ziebart apply Diamond Gloss annually for several years. [/off-topic]

I'd buy that thing for cheap and swap all the body over to base Neon. It'd make a nice sleeper.

You're kidding, right? I can't even keep up with maintaining the "kid" that I have, much less another one. LOLMyNeonSaysHi wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 4:36 pmThe white ACR is nice! its in Indy, go get it gramps! Have another SRT-4 haha.
